Rodrigo has had an unforgettable season at Real Madrid so far, but after moving to Arsenal and other clubs in the summer, he has now gone 30 games without scoring, an undesirable club record.
Rodrigo’s role at Real Madrid is in doubt and he was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal this summer, but his struggles continue as he went on to score his 30th game without scoring on Sunday.
The Brazilian previously played a big role in Los Blancos’ front line, famously scoring twice in the come-from-behind win over Manchester City, but his goalscoring output has all but dried up. Rodrygo’s game time has decreased, with some of his chances coming off the bench.
But he seems to be a player lacking in confidence, and Sunday’s surprise draw against Girona was the 30th consecutive time he has failed to find the back of the net, an undesirable club record for a forward.
In total, the 24-year-old has gone a staggering 1,339 minutes without scoring. He last scored a goal in the Champions League against Atlético Madrid in early March. His last goal in La Liga came on January 19 against Las Palmas.
Admittedly, the frontman’s future is far from certain, and Rodrygo isn’t exactly in the shop window. Kylian Mbappé arrived last season and Vinicius Junior has also starred for Xabi Alonso’s side in the final third.

Arsenal have been linked with a move for the Brazilian, but with the likes of Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze also in the mix, they are unlikely to spend big on other players before the summer. Manchester City were also rumored to be interested in signing Rodrygo, but they are now reportedly considering signing Antoine Semenyo.
Back in the summer, the Real star dismissed talk of leaving the Bernabéu unless he was specifically told his time at the club was over. Rodrygo started only three of the team’s 14 La Liga games. It only started once in the Champions League and had a similar theme.
The forward previously insisted: “I’ve always said: ‘As long as Real Madrid needs me, I’ll be here.’ If one day Real Madrid say to me, “Rodri, find a team,” I will say “Okay.” But that didn’t happen. The club always told me they had faith in me. And when I had a problem, they helped me. People guessed because I was silent.
“But I knew what I would do this season at Real Madrid. I’m going to focus on doing my best. That didn’t bother me. I was calm and here I am… it’s business as usual. This is my seventh season.”
