David Beckham praised Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim after the Red Devils’ 2-1 win over Crystal Palace
Sir David Beckham has praised Ruben Amorim and believes Manchester United are on a roll following Sunday’s important 2-1 win against Crystal Palace.
United fought back to beat Palace at Selhurst Park, ending a three-game winless run. In the second half, shots from Joshua Zirkzee and Mason Mount overturned Jean-Philippe Mateta’s lead.
The result puts the Red Devils back in the top half of the Premier League, moving them up to seventh place, three points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa and four points behind second-placed Manchester City.
“I think there are signs that the manager is turning things around,” Beckham told Sky Sports after United’s win over Palace, as he watched the Qatar Grand Prix with Gary Neville.

“He’s tweaked some things and we’re getting some better results. We still have a long way to go and there were some games where we didn’t play very well.
“But I think we have a good coach and I think he is slowly turning things around.”
According to The Sun, Beckham was approached last month to back a bid for United. A consortium in the United Arab Emirates has asked former Reds midfielder Beckham to be an ambassador for the bid, and a Middle Eastern company is said to be preparing an offer to buy the Glazers’ majority stake in the club.
Beckham has been a frequent critic of the Glazers, and while admitting the 50-year-old is open to being involved with the club in the future, he has urged them to sell in 2023. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos took control of the club’s football operations at the end of 2023 after acquiring a 27.7 per cent stake.
In March, the Red Devils revealed plans to build a new 100,000-capacity stadium next to Old Trafford.
Meanwhile, Amorim looked visibly relieved following United’s win at Palace. Asked if he had said any uplifting words in the closing seconds of the Red Devils’ 1-0 defeat to Palace that would have prompted a response from his team, Amorim said: “No, we just wanted everyone to understand the game.
“They were struggling in the last 10 minutes of the first half, and I felt like they were going to struggle in the second half as well.
“We had that feeling and we needed to do something to change the way we played.
“We tried to change little things in our game, the intensity and quality of our connections, especially Josh (Zirksee), and he made a huge improvement in the way we played.”
