Liverpool are in dire straits, with Arne Slott’s position under intense scrutiny just months after winning the Premier League, and the Reds are far from happy with themselves.

Liverpool’s dressing room has been left shocked by the club’s recent debacle, with senior stars feeling they have been let down by Arne Slott.

The Reds are in their worst situation for 72 years after a disastrous 4-1 home defeat to PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League. The setback follows two consecutive defeats in the Premier League, with Nottingham Forest also sending Liverpool to Anfield in good form. The Dutchman has suffered nine defeats in 12 matches and his poor performance has put his slot position in jeopardy.

According to the Mail Online, there were vocal voices in the dressing room after the loss to Forest, with captain Virgil van Dijk and others saying they were “frustrated” with how things had unfolded. The consensus is said to be that Liverpool manager Slott has let his players down.

The team’s predominant feeling is said to be one of confusion, with the current malaise coming just months after winning the Premier League title. The club are in the bottom half of the table this season, 11 points behind league leaders Arsenal.

Some of Liverpool’s stars have spoken publicly about their struggles. Academy graduate Curtis Jones gave an honest assessment after receiving PSV. “It’s unacceptable to be honest,” he said. “As I said earlier, I don’t even have words. I’m past being angry and sad, and I’m at the stage where I don’t have words.

“It’s hard to find words. I’m a player and a fan and I see it this way, but I’ve never experienced such bad team play and a result like this.

“At the end of the day, we still have that badge on our chest. Until that badge is gone, we will always fight and try to take this team to where it should be and show why Liverpool are the best team in the world. But for now, we are at our lowest and that needs to change.”

Slott admitted in a press conference that the team was not up to par. However, the Dutchman does not feel disappointed in his team. “No, not at all,” he said Friday. “Although I agree that our standards and our, I mean, our team, were not the standards that we are used to and that we would like.

“I think we can play better than we are now. But last season, when we did very well, there was a lot of attention on certain individuals, but I always say it should be about the team and the team makes the individuals look very good.

“If the opposite is happening, you should look at the team and not the individual. That’s what’s important to me.”
