Manchester United are one of a number of clubs keeping an eye on Crystal Palace and England midfielder Adam Wharton, who have enjoyed a remarkable rise in recent years.
Adam Wharton will refuse to move to Manchester United if Ruben Amorim’s side fail to qualify for Europe. United have identified the England and Crystal Palace star as one of their main transfer targets next summer.
Amorim believes the midfielder’s quality on the ball makes him ideal for the team he wants to build at Old Trafford. And United are confident of signing Wharton in a £70m deal next summer.
But while Wharton wants to return to the North West, he has no intention of leaving Palace for a club that cannot offer European football. The 21-year-old believes he is ready to take the next step to a bigger club and that means regularly performing on the biggest stages.

Following on from their disastrous performance last time, United are not in Europe at all this season.
And United will face Wharton and Palace in the mid-table at lunchtime on Sunday after more inconsistent results.
United have also targeted the likes of Elliott Anderson and Conor Gallagher, but Wharton remains their first choice.
Wolves midfielder Joao Gomez has been linked with a January move. However, United officials have distanced themselves from the club and the Brazilian international, while Wolves have no interest in selling him in January, as they have failed to win a league game so far this season and are languishing at the bottom of the table.
