Pressure is mounting on Arne Slott following Liverpool’s poor performance and the idea of bringing Jurgen Klopp back to Anfield is being seriously considered, as is the club’s long-term plans.
If Liverpool decide to sack Arne Slott, they may actually turn to former manager Jurgen Klopp. The German is reportedly currently being considered as a serious candidate for the post he once held.
Klopp will leave Liverpool in the summer of 2024 and be replaced by Slott. The Dutchman quickly rose to prominence and led Liverpool to the Premier League title in his first year at the club, but is now under increasing pressure after suffering a disastrous nine defeats in 12 competitive matches.
Mirror Football understands that the Liverpool manager is not at immediate risk of being sacked at this time. However, the Sun reports that if Slott is ultimately sacked by Anfield bosses, he could approach manager Klopp about taking over the role until the end of the season.

It is claimed that the club will then work on signing their long-term top target, PSG manager Luis Enrique.
According to reports, discussions have taken place between Liverpool executives about Slott’s future. Bosses are said to be worried about the manager losing his dressing room.
Speaking after Wednesday night’s 4-1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League, Slott said:
“But if you’re working as a coach and things aren’t going well, it’s normal for questions to be asked.
“When you lose too many times, people start talking about it. I have a lot of support from above. I’m fine with my position.”
“They don’t call me every day to say they trust me, but I feel that trust in their everyday conversations.”
Liverpool return to action on Sunday afternoon when they take on West Ham United at the London Stadium (kick-off 2.05pm). A loss in this match would put serious pressure on Slott’s job.
It’s hard to explain why there was such a big bust, despite a summer transfer fee of more than £420m.
A whopping £125 million of that was spent on striker Alexander Isak. However, the Sweden international has struggled since arriving from Newcastle, with his only goal for the club coming in the Carabao Cup win over Championship side Southampton.
Klopp is currently employed as Red Bull’s head of global football. Then, regarding the possibility of him never returning to coaching, manager Klopp gave an interesting answer.
“That’s what I think. But you never know,” he told The Athletic in October.
“I’m 58 years old. If I were to start over at 65, people would say, ‘I told you I’d never do it again!’ Well, I’m sorry, that’s what I meant 100 percent! That’s what I think now. I haven’t forgotten anything[about being a manager].”
