Arsenal Under-19s beat Bayern Munich 4-2, making Luis Muñoz the youngest player in UEFA Youth League history at just 13 years old
Arsenal’s young prodigy Luis Muñoz made history by becoming the youngest player to feature in the UEFA Youth League at just 13 years old. The youngster featured in the final four minutes of Arsenal’s 4-2 win over Bayern Munich at the Mangata Developments Stadium.
For the under-19s, goals were scored by Seaduck O’Neill and Kylan Thompson, flanked by a brace from Max Dorman, the second of which sealed the win with a stunning solo goal deep into second-half stoppage time.
David Horsmann’s side had lost to Slavia Prague, Atlético Madrid, Olympiakos and Athletic Club before winning against Bayern and picking up three points for the first time in the league.
With the Gunners’ youth teams unlikely to progress to the knockout stages, several young stars from the academy have been given a chance to shine, including Munoz and Emerson Nwaneri, the latter of whom has attracted attention for his performances with the Under-16s in recent months.

Munoz has yet to play for the under-18s, but his performances at Nwaneri’s age group showed he can still excel even after several years of playing.
Both players were introduced to secure a much-needed victory, with Muñoz, 13 years, 11 months and 15 days old, making history as the youngest player in the history of the UEFA Youth League.
It is no surprise that an Arsenal player holds this particular record, given that the likes of Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and Ethan Nwaneri have all featured in the first team in recent years.
With Saka and Noni Maduke sidelined through injury, Dauman is the latest player to break into the first team with impressive performances.
Madueke returned for the first time in two months in the north London derby win against Tottenham, and now that both wingers have returned, Dauman is playing in the academy again.
The 15-year-old showed off his skills off the bench in the first weeks of the 2025/26 season, making Arteta the youngest player to feature in the Champions League at just 15 years and 308 days old.
Less than a year later, he became the youngest player to start for Arsenal when he was picked in the offseason against Brighton in the Carabao Cup, and Arteta was understandably impressed by his ability.
Arsenal’s head coach said: “What he did on the pitch was he came in, played people on the first ball, started dribbling and got fouled.”
“That’s character, that’s courage – and you can’t teach that. You either have it or you don’t.
“And it doesn’t matter what’s in his passport. You throw him into this situation and he can adapt and perform well.”
