Barcelona’s official team bus was targeted in London last night as it was en route to Stamford Bridge for the club’s Champions League clash with Chelsea. Staff were forced to repair a broken window so that Marcus Rashford and his teammates could be quickly transported to Gatwick Airport immediately after the game.
Police have launched an investigation into this shocking incident. After this incident, Barça lost 3-0 to the Blues with an own goal from Jules Kounde and goals from Estevao Willian and Liam Delap, securing the victory. Enzo Maresca’s side put in an excellent performance in west London, with Ronald Araujo sent off in the first half.
Ferran Torres squandered a clear chance before Chelsea could take the lead. Tuesday’s hosts never looked back. Hansi Flick expressed his dissatisfaction with the team’s effort.
“We need to be more aggressive, especially in one-on-one situations,” Flick said. “When I look at Chelsea, they are always more aggressive, they play more physically, they play more dynamically in one-on-one situations, and that’s what I want from the team.
“Sometimes you think we have control, including the ball, but that’s not the case here in the Champions League, especially when you’re playing here against a second-place club that plays in the Premier League, so we have to fight a little bit more and be more aggressive.”
“But we started the game very well and had a big chance to score the first goal, but of course the red card changed everything.
“It’s not easy to play against this great team with 10 players. We have to accept this loss, but we’re looking very positive for the next game.”
