Manchester United fans all had the same complaints after the 1-0 defeat against Everton at Old Trafford
Manchester United fans all kept saying the same thing after the Red Devils lost 1-0 to 10-man Everton. Idrissa Gueye was sent off in unusual circumstances for slapping teammate Michael Keane in the face early in the game, leaving Everton alone for most of the game.
But despite the favorable conditions, there was a shock result on Monday night as Keenan Dewsbury-Hall’s superb right-footed effort found the top corner of the goal and sealed victory for the Toffees at Old Trafford. Everton had not beaten United at Old Trafford since 2013, but Jordan Pickford sealed a famous win with a clean sheet, despite Ruben Amorim’s side looking for an equalizer thanks to performances from Brian Mbeumo and Joshua Zirkzee.
In fact, this goal revitalized a previously lackluster United side. Zirksee, who is widely tipped to be leaving the club next year, was given a chance up front in the absence of Benjamin Sesco and Matheus Cunha, but was unable to make the most of it as United’s midfield struggled to create opportunities for the strikers.
The reaction from United fans on social media was intense right away, with some branding the defeat “embarrassing” and others expressing disbelief at the result.
“Manchester United were embarrassed last night. Everyone involved in that team should be ashamed. At home? A performance like that?” Asked about X.

“Man United 0 – 1 Everton. Over-performed before the red card. Over-performed against 10 men. I have no words for what I just witnessed. It’s embarrassing,” another wrote.
“The player already has an advantage. Shame on him,” said a third supporter.
Coincidentally, this day also marks exactly one year since Amorim’s first game in charge of United, increasing the pressure on the Portuguese manager’s job.
The result leaves United in 10th place after 12 games and they have not won in the Premier League since last month’s 4-2 win over Brighton at Old Trafford.
Amorim have a tough test away to Crystal Palace this weekend, before facing West Ham, Wolves, Bournemouth and Aston Villa before Christmas.
