Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye was sent off against Manchester United after being involved in a bizarre incident with teammate Michael Keane, but his reaction in the dressing room has been revealed.
Idrissa Gueye has immediately apologized to his Everton team-mates for his outrageous red card against Manchester United. The midfielder was sent off after striking out after a fierce exchange with Michael Keane at Old Trafford.
However, match winner Keiynan Dewsbury-Hall confirmed Gay had apologized for his dismissal. “It was just a moment of madness. It was clearly avoidable. All I can say is that Idrissa apologized to us all at half-time and gave his opinion. That’s all he can do and we’ll move on from there.”
“The reaction from the players after the game was unbelievable and top-level. We could have easily collapsed and let ourselves be attacked and lost the game comfortably, but that probably helped us grow even more as a team.”
“The manager said we would deal with the situation another time, but all we had to do was stick to the plan we had. He just wanted us to continue doing what we were doing and focus on what we could change.”

Gueye will be given a three-match suspension for his red card against Old Trafford, leaving manager David Moyes at a loss as to how to replace him.
However, Moyes didn’t seem too dissatisfied with Gayet’s actions at Old Trafford. Asked for his verdict by Sky Sports, the Everton manager said: “I’m surprised. I don’t think anyone in the stadium would have been surprised if nothing had happened.”
“I thought the referee could have taken a little more time to think about it. Maybe he just had second thoughts. I’ve heard that in the rules of the game, if you slap your own player or raise your arm in any way, you can get into trouble.”
“There’s another side to it. I really like when players fight with each other and get frustrated with each other because of bad balls or not doing the right thing. I think that’s part of it too.”

“I think if you want a winning team and you want the resiliency and toughness that led to that result, you have to have players that act like that.
“It’s unfortunate that I got sent off, but everyone will tell you, we were all footballers and anyone who was a footballer will tell you, it’s normal to be angry at your team-mates.”
Asked if he had spoken to Gueye, he added: “He apologized in the dressing room for the sending off. He was incredibly complimentary and grateful to the players for their performance tonight. As I said, he apologized for what happened.”
Everton currently sit 11th in the Premier League, ahead of Merseyside rivals Liverpool following their victory at Old Trafford. Moyes’ side will be back in action on Saturday when they welcome Newcastle to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Manchester United, on the other hand, have lost for the first time in six games and are languishing in 10th place in the table. They face Crystal Palace next Sunday.
