Liverpool are in dire straits after Saturday’s 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest. The Reds have lost six of their 12 Premier League games this season, their title defense now over, and league leaders Arsenal are 11 points behind the Merseyside outfit.
Despite the Dutchman leading Liverpool to the title in his first season in charge last season, doubts have been raised over manager Arne Slott. The 47-year-old is struggling to prove that he is the man who can stop corruption. So how long will Slott be before Liverpool decide they have enough? The Express Sport team has their say on Slott’s future…

Should Arne Slot be sacked now? No, how long should he wait? Now, with Liverpool playing like this, maybe another couple of months? They don’t have the style of play and that’s why he’s losing the credibility he had in the bank. There are serious doubts about whether he can resolve this crisis. This season, he has shown little to show he can do that.
Diogo Jota’s death has had a huge impact on the team, and there is no doubt that it is a major factor in the team’s steep decline this season. But tactically, Liverpool’s team is a complete mess and it’s up to the manager to fix it. Since this slump began, Slott has been given two international breaks to come up with a solution, both of which the Reds lost at Anfield in his first game back.
It’s difficult to say what formation Liverpool should play with this team. But it was Slott who made the summer deal. Florian Wirths was sold on his plans for the slot. So what was the plan? who knows. None of the players seem to know. This team has no substance at the moment. They can neither defend nor attack. They aren’t very good at pressing, they’re heavy in possession, they’re no longer direct, and they can’t defend set-pieces.
Only Dominik Szoboszlai had a good season, but the rest didn’t become bad players overnight. Therefore, most of the responsibility should be assigned to managers. Slott needs to quickly show that he can address some of these issues or Liverpool are well within their rights to sack him before the end of the season. The trouble is, there’s no clear alternative if you reach that point…

Liverpool’s leaders will be desperately trying to understand whether Arne Slott can find a solution to the team’s current predicament.
The Dutchman has put a lot of faith in Banks, having taken a group of players who idolized former manager Jurgen Klopp and re-energized them to perform at the highest level as they bid for Premier League silver.
However, slots now have a completely different problem to overcome. His team is definitely stronger than last season, but his players are not performing as well as they should.
Slott needs to give direction to his bosses that he can save the team from small crises. And he needs to do it quickly. If Liverpool are still mired in mid-table by the end of the busy festive period, time will be running out for the slot. And if Slott can’t stop the slide by then, the Reds will need to bring in a new manager in the new year.

Arne slot should get at least a season. He has already won the title and if he had not played against PSG last season, who knows how they would have ended up in the Champions League.
Sure, the season started off badly, but Slott has earned the right to turn things around. A summer spend of £450m shows the faith and belief already placed in the Dutchman.
Besides, are there any managers on the market with serious appeal? Unless manager Jurgen Klopp is willing to walk away from his new life, there are few options that yield great promise.
Slott has already proven he can lead Liverpool to one of the best teams on the planet. He needs time and patience.

Despite going into the season feeling invincible, Arne Slott will no doubt be feeling the heat due to the Reds’ poor form of late, considering he led Liverpool to the Premier League title with little effort in the summer transfer window last season. Liverpool have won just one of their last five league games and are languishing in 11th place.
Not only are the summer signings of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak not worth their hefty prices, but the previously impregnable defense of Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate has remained intact this season, leaving them with more holes than a sinking ship. Meanwhile, Jeremy Frimpong’s injury meant Dominik Szoboszlai had to be brought in as a temporary full-back, which didn’t help matters, given that Liverpool lost a key part of their engine room as a result.
Liverpool’s current defensive failures may leave football fans around the world questioning whether signing Marc Göch would have prevented this lackluster season, especially considering how close the Reds were to signing the Crystal Palace captain on deadline day. Meanwhile, the choice to sell Jarrell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen may also raise some eyebrows, given his performance in the Bundesliga and Liverpool’s lack of depth in the position.
As for how long Slott has left in charge, I believe he has the remainder of the season, regardless of whether Liverpool’s current form continues or worsens, given their track record of winning the league last season. It’s a bold statement considering Graham Potter and Ange Postecoglou were released to West Ham and Nottingham Forest respectively after similar performances, but it remains to be seen whether Liverpool will be in a hurry to let the 47-year-old go, especially considering they traditionally tend to stick with managers for long periods.
