Arsenal underlined their title credentials with a win over north London rivals Tottenham on Sunday, but manager Jamie Carragher has one big concern for the Gunners as they aim to end their long drought.
Jamie Carragher believes Arsenal could actually be their worst enemy as they chase the Premier League title. The Gunners are the overwhelming favorites to take the title at the end of the campaign.
Mikel Arteta’s side beat north London rivals Tottenham 4-1 at the Emirates on Sunday, leaving them six points clear at the top of the table. Coupled with Manchester City’s heavy defeat at Newcastle, Arsenal are in a great position heading into a busy festive period.
Despite the advantage, former Liverpool star Carragher believes they are the only team that can deny Arsenal. “The only team that can stop Arsenal from winning the league is Arsenal. They are the best team. They are the best team,” he told Sky Sports.
“The only thing that can stop them is their own head, their own mentality. Maybe this crowd will be nervous in March and April, if the league is still up at that point.”
“This would be it. If they don’t win, we’re all going to point at them and say, ‘You threw this away.’ I don’t think that’s ever happened before.”

“I always think there were teams in the Premier League that were slightly better than them, but that’s definitely not the case this season.”
Of course, Arsenal have been in this position before. The Gunners have challenged for the title in each of the last three campaigns, but have fallen short in each of them.
And Arteta is wary of getting too excited at this stage, especially with so much football still to be played. When asked what six points difference meant at this point in the season, he said:

“We’re doing really well. We’re getting really consistent, that’s all. So whether you win or lose, when you look at the results, the difference between the scoreline and what actually happens in the game is really small.”
Arsenal will aim to continue their challenge for the title against one of their closest rivals next weekend. The North London side will face second-placed Chelsea in their next league game, and a win would move them closer to nine points behind.
