Arsenal’s win over Tottenham ensured that Gabriel Magalhães could decisively counter Richarlison, despite the Gunners defender missing the north London derby through injury.
Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhães couldn’t help but poke fun at Tottenham forward Richarlison after the Gunners’ north London derby win against Spurs. Gabriel wasn’t even on the pitch, but he targeted his national teammate after the game.
The 28-year-old defender posted a photo of himself on Instagram along with the Arsenal Player of the Month trophy he won, the Eberechi Eze shirt, the Player of the Match award and a signed soccer ball.
Significantly, Gabriel, who missed the match against Brazil due to an injury, tagged Richarlison in his post. The act reflected how Richarlison was targeted after Spurs’ win in a pre-season friendly.
In July, the Spurs star posted a photo of himself receiving the Man of the Match award and tagged Gabriel after Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Arsenal in Hong Kong. Gabriel responded by sharing a photo of the three players who won the Premier League Player of the Year award against Tottenham.
But now he can rub salt into the wound when it matters most. Gabriel watched Arsenal’s resounding victory at the Emirates and took to the pitch as the celebrations began at full-time.

A hat-trick for Eze and a goal from Leandro Trossard ensured that Richarlison’s impressive shot from distance was not in vain. Arsenal extended their lead at the top of the table to six points after picking up three points against their local rivals after Manchester City were upset by Newcastle.
Gunners manager Mikel Arteta has been impressed with his side’s consistency this term. But the Spaniard refuses to get ahead of himself.
Instead, they are desperate for the return of the club’s injured stars, including key man Gabriel. However, Arteta was impressed with his substitution.
“We’re doing really well, we’re really consistent, that’s all,” Arteta told a press conference. “So when you look at the results, win or lose, the difference between the scoreline and what actually happens in the game is very small, we know that.
“Today we need to get players back quickly. It’s great to have Noni back on the pitch, but we’re still missing a lot of important players and we’re going to need everyone.
“The good news is we lost big Gabi, which is a big blow. And then Pierrot (Hincapie) came in. I think he was great from the beginning.”
