Mateison Cunha suffers an accident while training with Manchester United for the upcoming Premier League match against Everton.
Matheus Cunha appears to have been involved in an accident while training with Manchester United. The Brazilian forward returned to the club to link up with Ruben Amorim and team-mates ahead of United’s game against Everton on Monday night.
However, it turned out that Cunha had an accident at the practice range. The 26-year-old was due to switch on the Christmas lights in Altrincham on Saturday evening.
However, Visit Altrincham announced that the player would no longer be competing due to “medical reasons”. “Unfortunately, Mateus Cunha was involved in an accident during training today and due to health reasons he will not be able to attend Altrincham’s Christmas lights lighting ceremony tonight,” the organization wrote on Instagram.
The club has not yet issued a statement. The Manchester Evening News reports that the development comes as the majority of Manchester United’s squad returned to Carrington this week after a two-week international break in preparation for the final World Cup qualifiers.
However, several key players missed the opening session of training, including Benjamin Sesco, Harry Maguire and Koby Mainu, all of whom are dealing with various injuries. The news comes as United welcome a rejuvenated Toffees side under the guidance of David Moyes on Monday as they aim to improve their standing in the Premier League.

The Red Devils go into the game with an impressive unbeaten record in their last five games, having won against Sunderland, Liverpool and Brighton, and draws against Nottingham Forest and Tottenham.
They currently sit in 10th place in the Premier League after 11 games, eight points behind league leaders Arsenal. However, Amorim has some injury concerns ahead of Monday night’s game against Everton.
Sesco suffered a knee injury in United’s game against Spurs before the international break and is not expected to return until December. Maguire was also substituted during the same game due to a hamstring problem, and Amorim admitted he was “not ready” for the next match.
Meanwhile, Mainu missed the Reds’ game against Spurs due to injury, but depending on his recovery, he could appear at the Theater of Dreams on Monday. In other news, Lisandro Martinez could finally make his long-awaited return to the Premier League against the Toffees.
The Argentine defender has been sidelined since February with an anterior cruciate ligament injury, but reports suggest he is close to returning to full fitness. The 27-year-old had returned to full training ahead of the international break, but Amorim decided not to play him immediately.
Although he was not called up for his country’s national team, Martinez trained with the Argentina squad and continued his journey towards full fitness during the holidays. Regarding the possibility of him playing on Monday night, Amorim said, “Richa is close to playing.” This comment is sure to please United fans around the world.
