Manchester United opted to let Andre Onana go on loan in the summer and has since seen Senne Lamence arrive as their new number one, but the Cameroonian goalkeeper has not given up hope of a return.
Andre Onana still has hopes of reviving his career at Manchester United upon his return from a loan spell in Turkey, but he would consider a move to another Premier League club as well.
The Cameroonian goalkeeper had an unconvincing two years at Old Trafford and was injured before the start of the season, but when the English transfer window closed he was surprisingly allowed to move to Super Lig side Trabzonspor.
Due to Onana’s injury, Altai Bajndir started the season as first choice, but his position at Old Trafford was uncertain as the club also signed Belgian youngster Senne Ramens. Despite heading elsewhere, the former Inter Milan goalkeeper is keen to return, iNews reported.
Trabzonspor are aiming to keep Onana on a permanent basis, but their long-term focus appears to be back on England. Lamence has become Manchester’s first choice shot-stopper and has impressed from the start, but could leave Onana in a difficult situation.
As a result, he has not ruled out a move to another top English club. He could be first choice if United’s path to number one is closed.

Onana has endured a period of error-filled spells in England, but he could still be at a disadvantage. Ruben Amorim opted to let him go last season after some high-profile failures that ultimately cost the Red Devils multiple times.
However, interest from overseas remains high. Onana turned down a move to Monaco earlier this summer, but only after receiving reassurances that Amorim was part of his plans.
The club’s stance changed after Onana made further mistakes during a humiliating Carabao Cup defeat at Grimsby earlier this season.
Despite this, it is understood that there is still interest from clubs in France, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia. Depending on how next summer unfolds, that could prove attractive to both Onana and United, as the Old Trafford side look to continue cutting payroll costs by selling players.
Amorim said of the goalkeeper’s loan move: “We saw Andre having a very good season at Inter. The quality is there. But we are at a club and sometimes things can get more and more difficult in the moment.”
“He’s a really experienced player, but at this club sometimes the pressure on details is very high. I think he understands that this requires a change. Sometimes it’s difficult to point out why. It’s a performance, it’s a moment. The bad luck of one moment was difficult for him and difficult for us. Our idea is to change the goalkeeper.”
