Interest in Antoine Semenyo’s transfer to Liverpool and Manchester United has increased after it was revealed that the release clause in his contract will come into effect in January.
Hopes are growing for Liverpool and Manchester United to sign Antoine Semenyo after it emerged that Manchester City are only keeping an eye on Bournemouth’s in-form star for now.
Semenyo remained on the south coast in the summer despite speculation over his future, signing a new contract with Cherries, while the Ghanaian international met with Manchester United manager Reuben Amorim. The attacker’s new contract includes an exit route for the ace with a release clause (£60 million + £5 million in add-ons) and will become effective in the January transfer window.
United are keeping an eye on Bournemouth star Semenyo, with Liverpool being touted by some as favorites to sign him. But Manchester City are also fans.
It has become clear that Josep Guardiola’s side are nowhere near as far along as other sides in their quest to sign the Premier League ace, who has scored six goals and provided three assists in 11 games, with Mail Online claiming they are just waiting to see how the situation unfolds at the moment.

In a speech last year, Semenyo talked about his ambitions for European football. “A team that plays in the Champions League or the Europa (League), that’s the goal,” he said. “I know it won’t be easy, it will take time.
“It’s going to take goals. It’s going to take a lot of consistent performances. But I’ve been working towards that all my life and I’m going to continue to work hard. That’s my mentality.”
Semenyo is starting to make strides in that regard, and there are growing calls for him to step up. Former striker Darren Bent sees him as Mo Salah’s ideal successor at Anfield.
He told talkSPORT: “He’s bursting out of the traps this season and looks very comfortable in his own right. Every game, when you see him do something, you think, ‘Oh my God’… He’s one of those rare players, I call players like this unstoppable, and Gareth Bale was like that too.”
“When I talk about unstoppables, I’m talking about their characteristics. When Bale started moving, you couldn’t stop him, and Semenyo is the same. Once he starts moving, he outruns people and glides. The good thing about him is that he can go in both directions. I think he has the complete package.”
“For a long time now, Liverpool have been able to rely on Salah on the right side season after season. Don’t get me wrong, he’s one of the best players we’ve ever seen in this country. But the signs are that potentially he could be a fraction off the pace. Now all of a sudden you have to start working on both sides.”
