Liverpool are thought to be planning a new move for the Crystal Palace defender in January after their loan move for Marc Guehi fell apart in the summer transfer window.
Crystal Palace believe Liverpool are the only team likely to make a move for Marc Gehi in January, with the defender’s remaining suitors expected to bide their time until he becomes available on a free transfer.
The Eagles captain’s move to Anfield fell through in the final hours of the summer transfer window, but Liverpool were always expected to reignite their interest in the 25-year-old. However, other suitors have emerged in recent weeks, with Guehi potentially available for free when his contract expires in 2026.
The situation is further complicated by the fact that some of Europe’s elites have ties to Guehi. In addition, Liverpool need reinforcements in their defense, which could force them to make a move before next summer.

According to a new report from Sky Sports, Palace believe that as things stand, only Liverpool are likely to make an approach for Guehi once the transfer window reopens in January, making this the south London outfit’s last chance to land the former Chelsea player for cash.
Furthermore, Selhurst Park officials believe other Guehi admirers from across Europe are only interested in biding their time until summer.
This could give Liverpool an advantage if they cross the line and sign Guehi. The Premier League champions are highlighting their defensive options after summer signing Giovanni Leoni suffers an anterior cruciate ligament injury that will keep him out for the rest of the season.
Despite spending more than £400m in the summer, Liverpool are also linked with a swoop for Antoine Semenyo in the January transfer window.
The high-profile Ghanaian attacker has been one of the Premier League’s top performers this season and it was revealed his release clause worth £65m will become effective in the first two weeks of the winter period.
Darren Bent feels he would be tempted by the chance to join the Reds, likening the “unstoppable” former Bristol City standout to Gareth Bale. He told talkSPORT: “I think he (Semenyo) will go to Liverpool. I think he can join any first team.”
“He’ll still get more than enough minutes, but it depends on his ambition. His ambition might be, ‘Take me to Manchester City, I’m better than Doc’. That might be his mindset.”
