Liverpool have announced a groundbreaking multi-year partnership with PayPal, marking the first collaboration between the digital payments giant and a Premier League club. The American company, which boasts over 400 million active accounts worldwide, will become the Reds’ ‘Official Digital Payments’ partner in a deal aimed at transforming the way supporters interact with the club. The partnership introduces a loyalty scheme that allows fans around the world to accumulate points through match-day spending.
According to the club, the deal is “aimed at enhancing the way Liverpool FC fans engage with the club both online and in person” and follows the Premier League champions’ recent partnership with luxury appliance manufacturer Haier, which was finalized in early September.
Liverpool confirmed that their partnership with PayPal will also focus on raising the profile of the women’s team, with initiatives aimed at expanding community programs through their official charity, the LFC Foundation.
The Merseyside club recently welcomed UPS, Google Pixel, Peloton and Orion Innovation into its commercial portfolio, while a deal with Japan Airlines earlier this year was related to a pre-season tour of Hong Kong and Japan.
Liverpool also secured a partnership with Visit Maldives in March. Ben Ratty, Chief Commercial Officer at Liverpool FC, expressed his delight at the new partnership with PayPal, saying: “PayPal is one of the most recognized and trusted names in digital payments and we are delighted to welcome them to the LFC family. Their expertise in delivering fast, secure and flexible transactions makes them the ideal partner to help improve the experience for supporters around the world.”
He added: “This partnership is an exciting step in our commitment to innovation, allowing fans to engage with their clubs in a seamless and secure way. PayPal’s dedication to supporting women’s football and grassroots development aligns perfectly with our values and future focus, making this collaboration even more meaningful.”
Jeff Seeley, chief marketing officer at PayPal, echoed similar sentiments, saying, “Our global collaboration with LFC builds on our partnership with world-class professional and collegiate sports around the world and strengthens our relationships with sports fans around the world.
“We offer our customers a seamless, flexible experience where they get rewarded for doing what they love, whether it’s buying new kit, having a drink at the game or settling down with friends later. PayPal is the smarter way to pay for LFC and sports fans around the world.”
Liverpool FC announced in February as part of its latest financial results that commercial income had increased by £36m to £308m. Thanks to various new partnerships signed in 2025, this number is expected to rise further in the next set of financial results.
