Manchester United said goodbye to a number of players during the summer transfer window. Marcus Rashford and Andre Onana were among the big names to leave Old Trafford on loan, while Rasmus Hjølund and Jadon Sancho completed moves to Napoli and Aston Villa respectively.

Many of the academy’s star players have also been released on temporary deals to gain valuable first-team experience. Some have been successful, while others have struggled. A total of 18 players were loaned from United. Here are their performances this season:

Harry Ammas – Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday have been able to give Amath regular minutes, having started 11 games, despite being handed a 12-point penalty due to ownership issues. According to the Manchester Evening News, the young talent scored his first first-team goal against Southampton and United are thrilled with his progress so far.

Toby Collier – West Brom

Collier has had limited minutes since his transfer, appearing off the bench in just seven games. He finally broke into the starting XI against Millwall last month and retained his place in the next game, before suffering a muscular injury.

Ethan Ennis – Fleetwood Town

Ennis spent the second half of last season helping Doncaster Rovers win promotion. The youngster joined Fleetwood on a season-long contract this season and has started eight league games.

He scored two goals and provided one assist during his successful spell in League Two.

Dan Gore – Rotherham United

Gore was injured shortly after signing for Rotherham in January last year, but made a huge impact in his available minutes, leading to him being re-signed for this season. He starred in Rotherham’s midfield, starting 15 League One games and emerging as one of the top players.

Andre Onana – Trabzonspor

Onana has been praised by the Turkish press following his move to Trabzonspor. Trabzonspor have only lost once in eight league games since joining the team. The 29-year-old kept three clean sheets and helped Trabzonspor to third place in the league.

Eli Harrison – Shrewsbury Town

Harrison, who missed the first two games of the League Two season due to a minor injury, started the next four games for Shrewsbury Town before joining England Under-20s in September. During his absence, another young goaltender stepped up and has since taken the first-choice spot in Harrison’s place.

Joe Hugill – Burnett

Hugill started Barnet’s first two games of the season in League Two but has been sidelined with injury since then.

Sonny Argeoffrey – Notts County

Defender Al Joffrey started the first eight games of the season and scored a goal, but has been out of the starting lineup in recent weeks. The 20-year-old was not included in Notts County’s squad against Harrogate Town last weekend.

Lewis Jackson – Solihull Moors

Solihull Moors currently sit mid-table in the National League. Jackson got off to a good start, appearing in the first two games of the season, but found it difficult to secure a spot in the starting lineup.

The centre-back has been conspicuously absent from the team’s last five games.

Rasmus Hoylund – Naples

Hoylund made an impressive debut for Napoli, scoring two goals in the Champions League match against Sporting Lisbon shortly after joining the club. However, he has only scored 4 goals in total.

His recent performances have drawn criticism from the Italian press. Despite winning Serie A last season, Napoli currently sit in fourth place.

Enzo Cana-Biik – Lausanne Sport

Kanaviik recently celebrated his first goal as a senior. He secured a draw with Lausanne in a local derby and was called up to France’s Under-20 squad for the November international break.

Jack Moorhouse – Leyton Orient

Moorhouse has made 15 appearances for League One side Leyton Orient, but only four of those have been league starts. Despite limited game time, the youngster showed flashes of brilliance off the bench.

Habib Oghani – Newport County

Dave Hughes, who previously coached Oganyi through United’s academy, has just left Newport County. This could affect Oganyi’s role in the team, but the young player has already started 13 games in Ligue 2, gaining valuable experience even in a difficult dressing room.

Marcus Rashford – Barcelona

Barcelona appeared to be the ideal destination for Rashford to get back to his best form. United’s raw talent has shown glimpses of his best abilities this season, with six goals and nine assists in 16 games.

Jadon Sancho – Aston Villa

While Rashford has progressed away from Old Trafford, Sancho remains in the doldrums. The former England international is yet to earn a starting place in the Premier League for Aston Villa and has not contributed a goal or assist.

Radek Vitek – Bristol City

Vitek played in every one of Bristol City’s Championship games and recorded five clean sheets. The 22-year-old goalie made some impressive stops.

Robins manager Gerhard Struber told the Bristol Post of Vitek: “He looks like an outstanding championship goalkeeper, young but experienced.”

Ethan Wheatley – Northampton Town

Wheatley needed a temporary switch after developing beyond youth level. The promising forward made 13 off-season appearances for Northampton in League Two, scoring two goals and adding a further two assists.

Ethan Williams – Falkirk

Williams is thriving in Scotland. The youngster has played nine games in the top flight for Falkirk, scoring one goal and providing three assists, placing him in fifth place, more than he is capable of.
