Marcus Rashford’s dream will come true thanks to Barcelona’s announcement
Marcus Rashford’s dream of playing at Camp Nou is becoming a reality after Barcelona confirmed a return to the iconic stadium is imminent. The Manchester United star’s loan move to the Spanish giants was actively pursued by the England forward last summer, and he has been open about his desire to move to Catalonia permanently.
His time in Spain was an enjoyable one, although he was unable to play at the club’s legendary home due to a £1.3bn renovation project. Barcelona have not played at the Camp Nou since 2023, instead hosting matches at the Lluis Companies Olympic Stadium.
However, a return trip is on the cards for the Catalan team, who have confirmed they will return to Camp Nou on Saturday when they host Athletic Bilbao.
The club has announced that a license has been approved for their return, allowing more than 45,000 supporters to attend matches. A statement read: “FC Barcelona has announced that the matchday 13 of the league against Athletic Club, scheduled for Saturday, November 22 at 16:15, will finally be held on Spotify Camp Nou.”
“This decision was taken after we received the first occupancy license for Phase 1B, which allows us to increase our spectator capacity up to 45,401 people. This license includes the entire lateral area and is in addition to the license already granted for Phase 1A, which covers Tribune and South Galle.”

“The club remains committed to Phase 1C, ensuring all operational, safety and comfort conditions for members and fans are in place to ensure the return to action at North Galle.”

Rashford confessed that playing in Barcelona’s iconic stadium is something he has dreamed of achieving for a long time, and that ambition became a reality earlier this week during a public training session before Saturday’s match.
Reflecting on his time at the venue, the player said: “It feels great. It’s a beautiful stadium and it will be incredible when it’s full. Camp Nou has always been one of my favorite stadiums and one that I’ve always wanted to play in. But it’s going to be a different feeling to play there as part of Barcelona. I can’t wait to get on the pitch. I want to enjoy it.”
The stadium redevelopment is scheduled to be completed in 2027, by which time the capacity will increase to 105,000, making it the fifth largest stadium in the world.
As for Barcelona’s future plans for this season, the club has submitted a request to UEFA to change the designated home venue for the remaining Champions League matches back to Camp Nou.
Rashford has scored a team-leading 15 goals and provided an assist in 16 games across all competitions this season, with Barcelona sitting just three points behind Real Madrid in La Liga.
