The Premier League star has climbed the scoring charts this season and is currently attracting interest from several big-name clubs.
Brentford star Igor Thiago is attracting interest from Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle, according to reports. The Brazilian has scored eight goals so far this season and has been outstanding for Keith Andrews’ side.
According to reports from Trivera and ESPN Brazil, all three clubs are believed to have made preliminary inquiries regarding the striker’s availability and price ahead of the January transfer window.
Both Villa and Spurs have struggled up front this season. Newcastle have signed Nick Woltemade and Yoan Wissa, but the club currently sit in 14th place in the Premier League, having won just three games so far.
Villa are also looking to strengthen their attacking side, with Unai Emery’s side currently having the lowest points tally in the league’s top 10, with Villa in sixth place. The excitement surrounding Thiago has led to speculation that most teams in the Premier League could be interested in him.
The striker also harbors ambitions to become Brazil’s number nine. Thiago’s rivals are Richarlison, Matheus Cunha, Joao Pedro and Nottingham Forest forward Igor Jesus, but his confidence suggests he has what it takes to win the race.

“I’ve always dreamed of playing for Brazil,” Thiago said, via the Daily Mail. “I always ask God that when He takes me to the national team, I don’t want to go just for the sake of it. When I get there, I want to stay.”
“The competition is very good because it means we have a very good attack and I am a good player. They are high-level players competing in the Premier League and it is very tough competition. My moment will come.”
“I’m not in a hurry and I’m not sad or anxious about anything, because I know that when my time comes, I’ll go and I’ll stay. There’s no doubt. I’m patient, I’m confident, and when the opportunity comes, I’m ready to accept it and never let it go.”
Former Hammers star Joe Cole also waxed lyrical about the striker after Thiago ran the Hammers into disarray after Brentford beat West Ham 2-0 in October.
“In today’s market £27m is a small sum,” he told Premier League Productions, referring to Thiago’s undisclosed transfer to the Bees, which was believed to be around £30m.
“West Ham will be at the other end thinking, ‘We’ve been looking for a centre-forward for 10 years’ and they don’t have it yet. He’ll be in a team outside the top four of the Premier League, Thiago.”
Thiago signed for Brentford in February 2024, but his move was delayed until that summer transfer window. However, he has been plagued by injuries since his club-record move from Club Brugge.
In Club Brugge’s title-winning season in 2023/24, he scored 18 goals in 34 league games. He also won the Young Player of the Year award in the UEFA Conference League that season.
