Manchester United spent big in the recent summer transfer window, but the Red Devils’ big spending under manager Ruben Amorim appears to be far from over.
Manchester United are in the market for two big midfield players next summer, with Elliott Anderson at the top of that list. United manager Ruben Amorim wants to strengthen his midfield as a priority as he rebuilds his team, with Brighton’s Carlos Baleva being another big deal.
Brighton resisted United’s late interest in the 21-year-old this summer, but they remain keen on the Cameroon international also wanting a move to Old Trafford.
However, United also see Nottingham Forest’s England international Anderson as another target, and his ability to play as a number six and incredible midfielder means they are prepared to do everything in their power to sign him.
The 23-year-old has attracted significant interest following his impressive performances for club and country, and Forest know they face a battle to retain him.

However, Baleva is likely to be valued at less than £100m, which is why he is seen as a good player with potential business. United veteran Casemiro is running out of time on his contract and will likely need to take a pay cut to remain.
They are also said to be interested in Conor Gallagher, who is aiming to qualify for the World Cup, if he becomes available on loan from Atletico Madrid in January.
United spent big last summer developing forwards such as Brian Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesco, and are now prepared to do the same in midfield as part of a long-term rebuild with Amorim in the fold.

A big-money summer was followed by a disastrous start to the season, with Amorim’s team finishing 14th at the end of September. Since then, he has recovered and is undefeated in five games.
United currently sit seventh in the table after drawing late in the last game against Tottenham. The Red Devils will be back in action next weekend when they take on Everton at Old Trafford.
