Barcelona want a new striker in the summer and could try to lure England international and Bayern Munich sharpshooter Harry Kane to a new experience in Spain by triggering his release clause.
Barcelona are planning to combine England stars Harry Kane and Marcus Rashford next season. The Catalan club have made Kane their first choice to replace Robert Lewandowski, who is out of contract.
The La Liga champions have not agreed new terms with Polish star Lewandowski and could potentially return to Bayern to bring in their next veteran striker. Importantly, Kane could be available due to a clause in his contract if he wishes.
The former Spurs forward became the fastest player this century to reach 100 goals for a club in Europe’s top five leagues, signing for Bayern in 2023 in a deal worth £86.4m. However, the German giants may be forced to let him leave for £57m in the summer.
Kane is under contract with the Bundesliga champions until 2027, but will be obligated to accept any offer if he is informed of his decision to leave before the end of the January transfer window. Spurs have the right of first refusal as a condition of selling Kane.
According to the Guardian, Barcelona see Kane, 32, as Lewandowski’s “ideal young replacement”. No wonder, as the England star has already scored 23 goals in 17 appearances this season as Bayern have made a record start.

Kane’s signing could see a second England international join the Catalan trade, with Rashford impressing on loan from Manchester United. Barça can make his contract permanent in the summer if they wish.
Hansi Flick has been impressed with Rashford’s contribution so far. The 28-year-old seems willing to extend his stay.
But convincing Kane may still be difficult. In a press conference last month, the striker admitted he was fully focused on Bayern and backed a potential move to the Premier League.
“In terms of staying there for a long time, I definitely saw that,” the former Spurs star said. “I haven’t had any such conversations with Bayern yet, but if there is such a conversation I would be happy to have it and have an honest discussion with them.
“Obviously, it depends on how the next year or so goes and what we accomplish together. We’re in a great moment right now and we’re not thinking about anything else.”
“As for the Premier League, I don’t know. If you had asked me when I first left to go to Bayern, I would have said I would definitely come back.
“I’ve been there a few years now, probably not as much, a little less, but I wouldn’t say I’d never go back.
“What I have learned in my career is that different opportunities and timings happen and things work out. Going back to my first point with Bayern, I am now completely committed to Bayern.”
