Trevor Chalobah has been called up to England’s squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford is also included after two absences, and there are doubts over Marc Guech.
Chelsea’s Trevor Chalobah has been added to Thomas Tuchel’s England squad. Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford has also joined.
The 26-year-old defender has been a key player for Enzo Maresca this season, starting 10 of his 11 Premier League games, but only missed one game due to suspension.
Chalova has kept a clean sheet in half of his league appearances this season, contributing to Chelsea’s impressive defensive performance. His performances have caught the attention of former Chelsea boss Tuchel, who is expected to use Charova for the Three Lions’ World Cup qualifiers against Serbia on Thursday night and Albania on Sunday.

Newcastle duo Anthony Gordon and Nick Pope were both absent, the former due to injury and the latter due to concussion.
Crustal Palace’s Mark Gehi has reported for Three Lions duty and will be assessed in the coming days. Guehi missed Crystal Palace’s draw with Brighton due to injury and is now absent from the squad. The Palace captain was injured during the Eagles’ 3-1 Conference League win over AZ Alkmaar on Thursday and is now walking on crutches, according to Oliver Glasner.
“He’s been on crutches for the last two days because he can’t even walk right now,” Glasner said over the weekend. “That’s why he can’t play. We don’t know how this situation will develop over the next few days. At the moment it looks like he won’t be able to play for England either.”
Chalobah will join Reece James as Chelsea’s two internationals in the latest England camp, just seven months away from the World Cup. Tuchel’s side secured a place in the 2026 tournament with a 5-0 victory over Latvia last month. Chalobah, who made his debut for England against Senegal in June, is hoping to break into the squad next summer.
The Cobham graduate returned from a loan spell at Crystal Palace in January after suffering an injury crisis in defense at Stamford Bridge. Since then, Chalova has remained central to Maresca’s plans, and after returning to the club, the defender appeared in 38 of Chelsea’s 50 games in all competitions.
Despite being dropped from first-team options in the summer of 2024, Chalová returned to the team and played throughout the remaining 24/25 season. Maresca, who has consistently praised Chalová’s contribution in SW6, said the centre-half played a key role in the Blues’ late-season results.
Chelsea’s head coach said: “I’ve been doing really well since I came back in January.” It was thanks to Trev that we were able to achieve what we achieved last season. He came out on top in the Club World Cup final against PSG, he did very well and we are happy for him.”
