Raheem Sterling has been the target of a second robbery at his parents’ home, with the Chelsea forward said to have been in the premises at the time of the incident. His other home was attacked by masked men during the 2022 World Cup, during which they stole jewelery and watches worth around £300,000.
Sterling flew home from the England camp immediately after the robbery and then returned to Qatar to rejoin the team. Now, it has emerged that another robbery took place at his parents’ home in the Berkshires on Saturday night. According to the Telegraph, masked men tried to break into the house, but further details of the attack remain unclear.
The report adds that Sterling was at home with her family when the incident occurred. Chelsea are said to be aware of the England winger, who lives with his long-term partner and their children, and have offered to help.
A spokesperson for Mr Sterling said: “We can confirm that Raheem Sterling was the victim of this weekend’s home invasion. We can also confirm that he and his children were in the home at the time.”
“While this is the ultimate invasion of privacy and safety, we are grateful to confirm that Raheem and his loved ones are all safe. We ask that the privacy of Raheem and his loved ones be respected during this difficult time.”
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police added: “Officers are carrying out a thorough investigation and are asking anyone with information or who sees anyone acting suspiciously in the area to contact police.”
The attack happened on Saturday night, before Chelsea played Wolves in the Premier League. Sterling was not included in the matchday squad after Blues manager Enzo Maresca deemed him unfit to play.
He has been training away from the rest of the group since returning from a loan spell at Arsenal last season. The player had the opportunity to leave Chelsea in the summer, with Manchester United and Bayern Munich mentioned as possible destinations.
However, Sterling was reportedly reluctant to move out of his parents’ home. It is now expected that he will eventually leave Stamford Bridge when the transfer window reopens in January, most likely on loan.
Sterling joined Chelsea in 2022, becoming one of the first signings under Clear Lake’s ownership when Todd Boley was briefly the club’s sporting director.
It was hoped that his title-winning experience would help the Blues regain their former glory in the Premier League. All involved are said to be unhappy that his signing did not go as planned.
