Manchester United remain keen to add to Ruben Amorim’s squad but may be forced to break their transfer record if they want to beat Liverpool to sign Elliott Anderson.
Manchester United are said to have made contact with Nottingham Forest over the possibility of signing Elliott Anderson, as he continues to attract attention.
The English player has emerged as a member of the Midlands squad since joining from Newcastle in 2024, and his performances at the City Ground laid the foundation for him to cement his place in the national team ahead of next year’s World Cup. Unfortunately for Forest, Anderson’s form has not gone unnoticed by some of his domestic rivals.
Mirror Football revealed last month that Manchester City and Chelsea were interested in Anderson, but United and Liverpool are also understood to be fans, with the Red Devils taking their interest a step further.
According to Germany’s Sky, United bosses are interested in the 23-year-old and Forest manager is also aware of the position. However, the Europa League side is reluctant to sell.

The report added that Forest would ask for between £100m and £120m if they were to consider a sale, but United are unlikely to bid anywhere close to that level. Anderson has just under four years left on the contract he signed at the City Ground last summer, meaning Forest are in a better position in negotiations.
The midfielder was signed for around £35m, with Greek goalkeeper Odyseas Vrakodimos moving in the opposite direction as both Newcastle and Forest looked to comply with PSR rules. Anderson has since made 56 appearances for Forest, scoring three goals. He also has four caps for England.
“Coming from last place in the Euros I’m full of confidence and I want to continue that,” he said in an interview with Telegraph Sport earlier this season. “So my focus was just to perform and put myself in the best position possible for my seniors.

“This is all I have done and will continue to do. I am in a very good position now. I have to continue to perform at club level with Forest and see where I go. My biggest goal this season is to add numbers (goals and assists) to my performances, which will probably take me to the next level.”
Asked if the move to Forest came as a surprise, Anderson added: “Yes, 100 per cent. It definitely was. I didn’t expect it to happen, but these are the new rules in football these days. I was away on holiday when I got a phone call and was told I might be leaving. I was due to fly to Nottingham in a few days.”
“Coming to Forest has really helped me as a player, but I may not have thought that when I left Newcastle. Everything happens for a reason and it was a great move for me. I’m really enjoying my football.”
