Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesco will not be sidelined from international duty due to a knee problem. Sesco came on as a substitute in the 58th minute against Tottenham, but played just 30 minutes before being sent off after undergoing treatment for a knee problem.
United were forced to sit out the game with 10 men as Ruben Amorim had already used up his substitutes. Sesko will undergo further tests at Carrington this week, but insiders say his injuries are not believed to be serious. The striker was seen leaving the stadium limping.
Amorim addressed the injury at a press conference, saying: “We need to check. There was something in my knee so we’ll see.”
When asked about the severity of the injury, Amorim admitted: “I don’t know. It’s about my knee, so I’ll never know.”
United secured Sesco’s signature during the summer transfer window for £66.4 million plus £7.3 million in add-ons.
The 22-year-old started the season on the bench, coming on as a substitute in the first three Premier League games.
He scored against Manchester City in September and then scored his first goal against Brentford.
Sesco found the back of the net in a 2-0 win against Sunderland last month.
Despite this, he was dropped to the bench against Liverpool at Anfield and was absent from the next three matches.
