Arsenal maintained their lead at the top of the Premier League with a 2-0 win over promoted Burnley at Turf Moor, taking a big step towards the title.
Alan Shearer believes Arsenal have “no weaknesses” as they chase the Premier League title. The Gunners have a seven-point advantage at the top of the table after 10 games and are favorites to win the trophy at the end of the season.
Mikel Arteta’s side maintained their top spot with a 2-0 win over promoted Burnley on Saturday. Victor Gokeres and Declan Rice scored for Turf Moor. And in the aftermath of that victory, Shearer claimed he saw no reason why Arsenal couldn’t ultimately become champions.
“I don’t see any weaknesses,” said the former Newcastle striker. “They scored again from a set-piece, but there was more to their performance. I like the way they are using (Riccardo) Calafioli and (Julian) Timber in the forward positions to create overloads and win set-piece chances.”
Shearer wasn’t the only player to bring glory to Arsenal this season following Saturday’s victory. Arteta’s opposite number Scott Parker also suggested there is no chink in the Gunners’ armor.
“They’re a really, really good team,” Burnley admitted in his post-match press conference.

“They are a team that I believe has everything to win the league this season. They are a top, top team in every aspect of the game: defense, attack, set-pieces. Today they just fell short.”
And despite all the praise for Arsenal, Arteta remained silent on his team’s title ambitions, instead praising his players’ performance at Turf Moor.
“I’m very happy because it’s a really difficult place to come to. They’ve only lost once in 18 months (against Liverpool) on penalties at the end of the game,” he said.

“I think we started the game very well. I think the first half was one of the best we’ve played. We scored two goals, created a couple more big chances and didn’t concede.”
“That was a stepping stone in the second half because we lowered our standards, especially with the ball and with the intention of taking more risks and playing forward. But again, defensively, we were exceptional up until the moment of the free-kick. We were a bit lucky as the free-kick hit the post, but we were able to keep a clean sheet.”
Arsenal will now turn their focus to the Champions League next week as they face Czech side Slavia Prague. The north London side will be back in action at the weekend, traveling to popular Sunderland.
