Liverpool women’s player Mia Enderby was rushed to hospital on a stretcher with a neck injury after adding 22 minutes to the game against Tottenham after a lengthy suspension.
Liverpool Women’s star Mia Enderby was taken to hospital with a suspected neck injury following an accident during the defeat to Tottenham, which saw the match suspended for more than 10 minutes.
Enderby appeared to land on his neck after jumping for the ball in the air and had to be carried off the pitch on a stretcher after receiving special treatment. The long stoppage added 22 minutes of stoppage time at the end of the game.
The 20-year-old has featured in all six of Liverpool’s Women’s Super League games this season, starting against Spurs. In a post-match interview, manager Gareth Taylor said he had not yet spoken to the club’s medical department, but said the injury was “not a pleasant thing to see”.
He added: “I hope she’s OK. At one point I thought she was going to come back in the sense of getting up and playing again, but with these types of injuries it’s really important that we take care of them.”
Tottenham came back from behind with goals from Tsuko Koga and Bethany England to take the three points. Liverpool took the lead in the match with Beata Olsson’s opening goal.

Enderby signed a new two-year contract in the summer and scored six goals in 42 appearances in his first two seasons at the club. It will add to Liverpool’s injury woes, already without Marie Hobinger and Sophie-Romain Haug, who suffered anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries before the international break.
Taylor lamented the situation his team found himself in, saying: “Unfortunately there was nothing from the sideline today. It’s not an ideal situation having to play 21-year-old Hannah Silcock on the right wing. We’re just going to fight through it.”
“The message is clear: we, the staff, the players and everyone at the club are working hard to turn this situation into a better one. But it will take a little time and a little support. Unfortunately, as we see at the moment, we are a bit devastated, but we will keep fighting.”
The Reds manager admits he doesn’t expect to lead the WSL, but wants to see him out longer and more. He added: “We don’t expect to be at the top of the league. We are realistic and we know we are at the starting point of a very long project. But of course we want to see positive moments and I think we are starting to see glimpses of that. We just can’t sustain it long enough in a 90-minute game.”
