Ederson gets a cup thrown at him in Besiktas vs. Fenerbahce, his new goalkeeper team comes from behind to win from a 2-goal deficit
Former Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson had a cup thrown at him during the Istanbul derby between Fenerbahce and Besiktas, but had the last laugh as he sealed a thrilling five-goal win in the dying minutes.
The Brazilian, who moved to Turkey from England in the summer, was verbally abused by supporters during Sunday’s match. Ederson cut through his frustration and even tried to kick the cup back into the stands as the rain continued to fall.
Late in the game, Ederson was standing with the ball when the cup flew in front of him. The goalkeeper stood up and shrugged at the referee, clearly unhappy with the situation.
The former City star, who spent eight trophy-filled years in Manchester, was not the only one to receive such treatment. Former Real Madrid and Aston Villa star Marco Asensio aimed for a corner kick but appeared to hit an object in the crowd.
The forward fell to the ground clutching his head, narrowly missing another bottle. The Spaniard was able to get back to his feet, but Besiktas players also appeared to be gesturing to their fans to stop such antics.

In the end, it was Ederson and Asensio who had the last laugh as Fenerbahce came from behind to win from a two-goal deficit. The winning goal was scored by former Aston Villa player John Duran, who is currently on loan from Al Nasr.
El Bilal Touré scored in just five minutes, giving Besiktas the perfect start. Emirhan Topuk then doubled the home team’s advantage and put them in the lead after 20 minutes. However, the game changed completely when Besiktas’ Olkun Kokku was sent off due to a VAR check.
Sergen Yalcin, who recently replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager, was sent off for protesting. Fenerbahce were saved with a goal from Ismail Yuksek, who pulled one back and Asensio equalized in first-half stoppage time, just after being targeted by a fan at Tupras Stadium.
The winner wasn’t found until the 83rd minute, and Duran was there. With the comeback, Fenerbahce remained undefeated and closed in on leaders Galatasaray. Ederson looked especially happy when he won.
