O’Neal appeared to be close to making a surprise return less than 12 months after being sacked by Wolves, but after preliminary discussions on Monday he decided against a return.
“Other candidates include Erik ten Hag, and Wolves have expressed an interest in holding discussions internally with the former Manchester United manager,” the report said.
“Under-21 head coach James Collins and Under-18 head coach Richard Walker will lead the first team and are working towards their permanent appointments.
“Wolves have not won in 14 league games since their victory over Leicester City on April 26th. They next face Chelsea on Saturday.”
Odegaard hopes to be called up to Norway national team
Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard could be included in Norway’s squad for World Cup qualifiers despite missing a month due to injury, The Sun reports.
Odegaard is eager to play against Norway, Estonia and Italy, which will be his first appearance in a major tournament since Euro 2000.
“There have been no direct negotiations with Arsenal yet and Premier League leaders will want Odegaard to take no risks.
“Similarly, manager Mikel Arteta may also welcome key players getting game time before the match against Spurs.”
Manchester United’s shortlist before Amorim
A shortlist of potential replacements for Ten Hag has been named, the Daily Mail reports, before Manchester United set their sights on Ruben Amorim.
United said they were considering Thomas Tuchel, Roberto de Zerbi, Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Frank, Marco Silva and Graham Potter and were keen for Premier League experience.
“Director of Football Jason Wilcox was in contact with Amorim and was impressed with him, but felt that the jump from Sporting Lisbon to a club in transition would be too big at Old Trafford.
“Tuchel met with club leaders in Monaco and was keen to take time off from the club after leaving Bayern Munich, and it was announced in mid-October that he would become England’s next manager.”
