Marcus Rashford has opened up about his relationship with former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, claiming he shared real feelings with several players.
Marcus Rashford has revealed the true feelings of many of Manchester United’s stars towards former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Norwegian managed United for three years, putting in as reliable performances as any other manager has achieved since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure.
Throughout his reign, United achieved two top-four finishes and reached the Europa League final, but suffered heartbreak in the decisive clash with Villarreal. Just a few months later, United lost 4-1 to Watford, his last game in the dugout, with United having used five notable names since his departure.
Rashford has worked with eight different managers since his breakthrough under Louis van Gaal, but his latest comments suggest his best years have arrived under Solskjaer’s guidance.

“Ole is a great guy,” he confessed to TV2. “I loved playing for him. I can speak for a lot of players at Manchester United when I say we loved playing for him.
“We played good football under Ole. It was a very successful period for me personally. He’s a great guy and I don’t have a bad word to say about him.”
Asked if he maintained contact with the former Besiktas and Molde coach, he replied: “Yes, sometimes, but we haven’t been in touch for a while.”
Since then, only two people have been appointed on a permanent basis, Erik ten Hag and current director Ruben Amorim, and Rashford has experienced contrasting relationships under both of them.
Under Ten Hag, the 27-year-old became a force to be reckoned with and played a key role in United’s domestic cup win.
Rashford scored three goals in the same game after Amorim’s arrival, but was left out of the first team due to a falling out with United’s new manager.
A loan move to Aston Villa was successful in January of the same year, but United suffered their worst season in history.
Despite failing to rejoin the team, Rashford secured a dream move to Barcelona, albeit temporarily, after it looked like he was set to leave for good last summer. The move includes a £30m buyout option.
A decision is likely to be made next year at the earliest, but it seems likely that it will be a permanent contract.
This is because he has contributed 10 goals in as many games this season, his most recent contribution being an assist in last weekend’s El Clasico loss to Real Madrid.
