Marc Guehy was close to joining Liverpool in the summer transfer window, but the deal fell through at the last minute, but the England international could still move in January.
Manchester United have been urged to consider beating Liverpool to sign the defender after signing Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi. Gehi’s future was a hot topic during the summer transfer window, with his £35m move to Anfield almost over the line, but the deal fell through with 11 hours remaining.
The England international ended up staying at Selhurst Park, but with his contract set to expire at the end of the season and a new deal unlikely, Guehi’s departure from Palace appears inevitable.
This has sparked interest from a number of clubs who are reportedly hoping to secure him on a free transfer next summer or on a bargain deal in January.

Despite adding four new players this summer, United did not strengthen their central defence. Former Red Devils star Louis Saha has explained why he thinks Ruben Amorim’s side should make a move for Guehi ahead of their fierce rivals in the next transfer window.
“Marc Gehi is definitely a top player and a leader. I love him as a player,” Saha told BetVictor. “It’s simple. If Man United can take over his contract from Liverpool by paying £20 million more than the market price then so be it.
“I think he’s a great player. I really like his consistency and the security he provides.
“I also appreciate his communication. He is a very reliable player. He will definitely be part of a huge team and play with high stakes in the future.”
In the summer of 2024, United made the decision to bring in Lenny Yolo and Matthijs de Ligt to strengthen their centre-back options, as well as signing Aiden Haven from Arsenal.
Harry Maguire’s contract expires at the end of the season, while Lisandro Martinez is still recovering from a long-term knee injury.
For Liverpool, the reigning Premier League champions are reeling from four straight Premier League defeats and already have several injury concerns in their defence.
Giovanni Leoni is expected to be out for much of the season with a knee injury, leaving Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez as the only senior centre-backs in the squad.
