Nottingham Forest host Manchester United on Saturday with a chance to end Ruben Amorim’s side’s winning streak in three Premier League games.
Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White believes it has been “incredible” that Ruben Amorim has brought Manchester United closer to where they should be in recent weeks. Gibbs-White will be part of a Forest squad tasked with ending United’s winning streak, currently tied at three games, when the Premier League resumes at the weekend.
Gibbs-White was part of the team that achieved a double against United last season, scoring in a 3-2 win at Old Trafford. Forest have changed managers twice since then, sacking Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou, but United have kept their faith in Amorim despite a difficult few months.
Amorim’s side are currently on the upswing with wins at home against Sunderland and Brighton, as well as an away win against Liverpool. They sit just one point outside the top four ahead of Saturday’s trip to the City Ground and could end the weekend in second place if results go well.
England representative Gibbs-White hasn’t lost any growth either. “It was incredible to watch. Obviously they’ve had a tough time the last few years,” he told StanSport (via Goal).
“But they’ve stuck with the manager (Amorim) and in the last four or five games you’re really starting to see the grit and determination of how Man United should play and want to play for the badge. I feel like it’s incredible to see that and I feel like that’s something the league has missed.”

Forest beat United 1-0 away and 1-0 at home last season, and the winner of Gibbs vs. White will beat the same opponents 2-1 in December 2023. A third straight home win in this game will be a welcome sight for a fan base who haven’t seen the team win the league since August, and the playmakers know they must focus on doing their job first and foremost.
“All we can do is focus on ourselves. We can’t focus on Man United’s form and performance because if we did that we would be bowing down to them,” Gibbs-White said. “We have to focus on what we want to do and how we can win games. I feel like we’ve already started implementing some ideas this week. Of course there’s still a few days until the game, so I’m sure the coach (Sean Dyche) has a lot more ideas on how we can win games.”
Forest and United had a midweek break after suffering early exits in the Carabao Cup. United lost on penalties to Lower League side Grimsby Town, while Forest gave up a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 away to Championship side Swansea City.
Amorim confirmed that Luke Shaw is available despite only playing 65 minutes in the last game against Brighton. “Luke Shaw is fine. He had a virus this week. He struggled a little bit in the game, but he’ll be ready for the next game.”
