Steven Gerrard returns to Anfield on Saturday and will take on a pundit role for Liverpool’s other former Premier League side, Aston Villa.
Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard is set to join the TNT Sports team for the Reds’ Premier League match against Aston Villa. A game in which two of his former clubs play against each other. Gerrard had a legendary career at Anfield before making the move to Los Angeles Galaxy in 2015 before returning to Kirkby as Under-18 manager.
However, he moved from Liverpool’s youth team to Rangers and tasted glory in the Scottish Premiership. That was before moving to England’s top flight to take the reins at Villa Park.
After an 11-month spell at Villa, the door now opened for Gerrard. He returned to coach Al Etifaq in the Saudi Professional League, but resigned in January.

But this Saturday he will be back at Anfield, analyzing the performances of his former club, who enjoyed success both on the pitch and in the dugout. Liverpool are looking to bounce back from a dismal four-game losing streak in the Premier League, but face a challenge from Unai Emery’s side, who are currently unbeaten in six games.
Gerrard will be joined by former Liverpool colleagues Steve McManaman and Joe Cole in the clash at Anfield. Gerrard, 45, has recently been back in the spotlight following an interview with former England teammate and Manchester United nemesis Rio Ferdinand.
In it, Gerrard spoke about the possibility of a return to football management, amid rumors of a return to Ibrox following Russell Martin’s sudden departure. However, after discussions with the Gers’ senior leadership, the former England captain turned down the opportunity.
In a conversation with Ferdinand, Gerrard confessed: “That’s how I felt at bat at Rangers (with Gary McAllister and Michael Beale). I don’t think the many coaching changes at Aston Villa and Saudi Arabia helped me from a personal point of view.”
“I would love to try again someday, change some things, improve some things and come back fresh with some different people around me.
“I’d like to try some more on this. That’s what I’m working on in the background right now. I have a few different ideas, a few different people around me.”
“Right now I’m enjoying time with my family and doing a lot of things I haven’t been able to do before. But I still feel like I have a little bit of unfinished business, in the sense that I want to take on another exciting challenge.”
