A woman has been charged over a horrific motorway crash that left former Bournemouth footballer Jordan Kiedsey losing his leg. The former Cherries and Southend United star was struck by a car on the hard shoulder of the M27 when his tire went flat.

Anna Bogušević, 45, is currently charged with dangerous driving and drink-driving causing serious bodily harm. She is due to appear in Southampton Crown Court on December 1. The incident occurred on February 1 while Chiedoji was traveling with physical therapist Rayhan Taylor. At the time, Chiedosi was playing for Bashley FC in Hampshire and was in that game.

The collision left him with “multiple fractures and other physical injuries.” In a tragic turn of events, he went into an induced coma after the crash and had to have his leg amputated.

Kiedsey, who is also the son of former Tottenham Hotspur player John Kiedsey, recently opened up about the accident that changed his life. He said, “I think you have to (stay positive), you just have to keep going.”

“I don’t think thinking too much about what happened and what happened in the past is going to help us recover or get back to the normalcy that we had before.”

In a conversation with the BBC, he added: “It’s going to take time, but I’m on track in terms of recovery. I’m getting better. I still have a long way to go, learning a whole new lifestyle with my prosthetic leg.”

He also drew similarities between his accident and the tragic death of Liverpool forward Diogo Jota. He died in a car crash along with his brother Andre Silva in July, just months after his own accident.

Reflecting on the Portuguese forward’s untimely death, Chiedosier said he had “put things into perspective”, adding: “It’s hard to take. I’m happy and blessed to be here, but he’s still seriously injured.”

Since having his leg amputated, Chiedosie has had to relearn many basic tasks, including walking. Describing the process as “frustrating”, he said: “It’s strange.

“You don’t think you have to learn something again. It’s not easy, but it’s what I have to do. I can’t dwell on it. I don’t know if it’s the mental strength, but I just have to keep going.”
