Arsenal striker Victor Gökeres is yet to feature in the Premier League, but he has been praised by teammate Bukayo Saka and is hoping to do more towards a summer deal.
Bukayo Saka believes Victor Gokeres needs to remain established until his teammates adapt to his style of play. Arsenal’s talisman says the north London side must offer more chances to capitalize on summer signings.
Gokeres joined from Sporting CP for a fee of £63.7m after scoring 97 goals in 102 games for Portugal. Mikel Arteta has handed Arsenal the crucial striker they sorely missed out on after finishing runners-up in the Premier League.
The Gunners striker has scored five goals in 13 appearances so far, including three in nine Premier League games. However, the Swede has not scored in five games in this division. But Saka suggested it was more than just Gökeres finding his feet and delivering results. The England international even praised his new team-mate’s form.
“Victor is playing really well,” Saka told Sky Sports. “He fits in well with the group. Last season we didn’t play with a striker like him. Kai (Havertz) is a different player.”

“We need to adapt to his game a little bit and create a few more chances. He’s getting more and more calm every game.”
Saka is also pleased with how Eberechi Eze has settled in since joining from Crystal Palace. The midfielder scored against his former club at the weekend.
“He’s fit like a glove. He’s happy, he’s playing and he’s playing very well, which is important. I’m happy to have him at Arsenal and I’m looking forward to what he can bring us this season.”
“I was very happy when he signed and there were about 20 of his family members in the picture. You can see what it means to him and his family to be at Arsenal. We talked about the pictures and all the other videos on social media. That’s what I love about having a player who wants to be here and loves the club.”
“He will give everything for this club and that’s what you need.”
Despite being happy with Arsenal’s new signings and their strong start to the season, Saka is not looking ahead in the race for the Premier League title. The Gunners already lead Liverpool and Manchester City by seven and SIC points respectively.
“I think it’s a little premature to talk about ‘our year’,” Saka added. “It’s only October. Of course, I’ve been in the title race for the past three years and finished second in all of them…
“What I’ve learned is that it doesn’t really matter now. April is when you need to be there and try to be No. 1.”
“Right now it’s about staying within that box, building momentum and continuing to perform. It’s still a bit early to talk about winning the title based on some of the results that haven’t gone our way so far.”
