Ange Postecoglou is said to be making an emotional return to Celtic following the departure of former Liverpool and Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers, and the Australian has now addressed his future.
Ange Postecoglou has been linked with a return to Scotland but will not return to Celtic. The Australian had been mentioned as a possible replacement after Brendan Rodgers resigned.
And a return to Celtic would see Postecoglou quickly back into the dugout after his spell at Nottingham Forest ended miserably after just 39 days. But it doesn’t look like the 60-year-old will be back anytime soon.
According to the Scottish Sun, Postecoglou wants to take a break from football after the tragedy at the City Ground. He has reportedly taken time to consider his next move and is considering a return to Celtic Park, where he has been described as a ‘non-starter’.
Postecoglou achieved great success at the Scottish giants during his previous spell when he took over the reins from Neil Lennon. He won five major trophies during his time at Celtic, including two league titles, a Scottish Cup and two Scottish FA Cups.
Postecoglou has since been at Tottenham, winning the Europa League before being sacked. He was then appointed as Forest manager to replace Nuno Espirito Santo, but his spell lasted just over a month before he was brutally sacked by owner Evangelos Marinakis.

And although he will not take the reins at Celtic, the club will continue to search for their next manager. Former manager Martin O’Neill has been appointed as interim manager for the time being.
Asked how he felt upon returning to the club, the 73-year-old said: “Nervous excitement.” “I want to do the best I can. I’m looking forward to it. I think so.”
“This is a position for which they are looking for a permanent manager. At the moment I have been called in to do the job. I am interim manager at the moment and that will continue to be the case.”

“I didn’t need to be told what was needed. Late in the afternoon, in the evening, I got a call from Dermot Desmond (Celtic’s majority shareholder) who told me that Brendan had resigned.”
“People were surprised by it. Everyone thought nothing was going to happen until the end of the season. They asked me if I could come down here and continue the process until they found a permanent manager. I had 10 minutes to make a decision, which I did.”
Celtic have had a dismal start to the season and are already eight points behind league leaders Hearts. The club also missed out on Champions League qualification under Rodgers after losing to Kazakhstan’s Kairat in the play-offs.
Their first win in the Europa League came earlier this month, with a narrow 2-1 victory over 10-man Sturm Graz.
