Manchester United spent big in the summer transfer window, but manager Ruben Amorim was keen to strengthen his midfield in January and will look to get creative when the transfer window reopens.
Jobe Bellingham is on the radar of Manchester United as they consider a shock move in January.
Bellingham, the younger brother of England and Real Madrid superstar Jude, was a key figure in Sunderland’s promotion to the Premier League last season, but opted to leave the Stadium of Light in the summer to join German giants Borussia Dortmund. He was hailed as one of BVB’s top players when he signed a £25m deal in July.
However, while his older brother has been active since the off-season at the Westfalenstadion, his younger brother Bellingham has struggled to establish himself, making just two starts in the league until Saturday night’s match against Cologne, and failing to score in 11 appearances in total. To make matters worse, off-the-field tensions are brewing between Dortmund’s sporting director Sebastian Kehl and Bellingham’s father Mark.

The two clashed on the opening day of the Bundesliga season. The Bellingham senior, a former non-league striker and former sergeant, took exception to his son being replaced at half-time by head coach Niko Kovac. This decision infuriated Mark, who waited in the tunnel after the final whistle to confront members of the club’s hierarchy.
The incident prompted England World Cup legend Geoff Hurst to label the Bellingham senior a “disgrace”.
Speaking at an event in Bristol, Hurst admitted that Jude is one of England’s two biggest stars he most admires, along with current captain Harry Kane. It’s a picture in the paper about a powerful man. That’s Jude Bellingham’s father. He was complaining when his son was taken away during a game, but it’s a total joke. If we don’t eradicate that kind of thing, it’s a total disaster.” It’s shameful. ”

This scenario has generated speculation about Bellingham’s future, with Bild reporting earlier this month that United were interested. Now Mirror Football have confirmed that United are closely monitoring the situation ahead of a potential loan move in January.
It remains to be seen whether Bellingham is willing to consider a move elsewhere or if he wants to stick with Dortmund.
However, United manager Ruben Amorim is keen to strengthen United’s midfield options and is looking at a wide range of potential new options, with Atletico Madrid’s Conor Gallagher also being considered.
The England international has fallen down the pecking order this season under manager Diego Simeone and will be hoping to feature more regularly as he battles for a World Cup place.
