Manchester United added to their attacking ranks this summer with the signings of Benjamin Sesco, Mateusz Cunha and Brian Mbeumo, but Ruben Amorim is also interested in the possibility of signing Robert Lewandowski.
Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has blocked a blitzkrieg move to sign Robert Lewandowski. The Polish superstar is in the final year of his contract with Barcelona and has not been offered a new contract.
The veteran former Bayern Munich hitman is now expected to leave the Spanish giants on a free transfer next summer.
His resignation will spark a mad scramble for his signature. United manager Ruben Amorim is a long-time fan of the veteran striker. And he believes bringing Lewandowski to Old Trafford will have a positive impact on the team and help other players develop.

However, Ratcliffe was clear that United would not repeat the mistakes of the past in indulging in signing players nearing the end of their careers.
United achieved this with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane, Edinson Cavani and Bastian Schweinsteiger. However, it all turned out to be a huge mistake, costing United tens of millions of dollars in the transfer market, and also paying almost the same amount in wages.
Despite being 37 years old, Lewandowski earns an astonishing £540,000 a week at Barça. And amidst the Blaugrana’s highly publicized financial problems that have left them at maximum leverage, there are hopes he will be allowed to depart for a new challenge next summer.
However, Ratcliffe does not believe signing Lewandowski is a viable option as United are desperate to cut their own payroll.
