In Cunha’s case, he established himself on the left flank and was speechless when he looked back at the goal.
“It’s difficult to say anything right now,” Cunha told BBC’s Match of the Day. “I’ve worked hard for this. This is a club and this performance needs to be common and normal. I’m very happy to be part of this. My first goal here at Old Trafford, I dreamed of this a lot, but of course the win is much more important.”
Cunha revealed that he spoke to Mbeumo and Sesco before the match, admitting that the pair have already set their goals this season and he feels he needs to join them.
He added: “It’s very hard to say anything. I joked with Brian and Sesco and told them they had to have this feeling[to score]. I was very nervous going into this game, but when I scored, they said, ‘Look, you can enjoy it now.’ I’m very happy to be a part of this because I support my teammates all day long. ”
“I’m one of them (fans) too. This is the club I grew up watching and it’s a different feeling being here. It’s a dream come true for me to help them.”
“We need to be a little more calm next time. We know Brighton’s quality, they always play tough games and of course they have the ability to come back, but in the end it’s part of the game and I think the most important thing is to win in the end.”
“I think we’re where we are now. We need to feel like this is normal. This is a club that needs to be in a position like this and we hope we can keep going and finish the season where we want.”
Gary Neville singled out both Cunha and Mbeumo for their praise for their formidable partnership at the top of the pitch.
“With Cunha and Mbeumo, the risk was removed from the contract in the sense that they had experience of playing in the Premier League and had the hunger to achieve at a different level,” he told Sky Sports.
“Mbeumo looks like he’s the right guy. He’s hungry and wants to score goals. Manchester United have something to build on. Cunha and Mbeumo will win a lot of games for Manchester United.”
