Mo Salah’s face said it all as Arne Slott reiterated Liverpool’s risky decision

When it comes to Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah, Arne Slott is causing problems himself – and failing to get him back onside and score could ruin his team’s entire season.

Jeremy joined the Daily Star in 2010 as Manchester football correspondent and has been chief sports writer for over 10 years. He provides expert coverage of Manchester United and Manchester City, the entire Premier League and English football teams. Jeremy has covered Wimbledon, golf majors and the Olympics, as well as the soccer, rugby and cricket World Cups.

Mo Salah was left looking like a tourist. One who was taken on a short trip to Frankfurt but came away feeling like a reserve on the trip who was there to make up the numbers.

Liverpool manager Arne Slott deserves great praise for letting Salah go against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League. That makes sense for Salah. But Slott’s display of strength declined to one of utter weakness before the second half began.

Liverpool overcame the shock of falling behind and took a 3-1 lead and were on track. The match was won. In fact, Slott was so confident of getting the three points that he decided to remove Alexander Isak and bring in Federico Chiesa in Salah’s place to avoid missing out on further chances.

Never mind Chiesa, if one Liverpool player needs an injection of confidence and momentum, it’s Salah, not the Italian.

When Chiesa was sent off first, Salah’s face was like a thunderstorm. The “King of Egypt” was eventually invited to leave the throne to be replaced by Hugo Ekitike with 16 minutes remaining. By this stage Liverpool had scored five goals, rendering the contest meaningless.

Salah stepped onto the pitch like someone who had won the booby prize in the lottery. A soccer legend is reduced to a cameo in an already completed film.

Slott puffed out his chest to show off his strength. But watch this space. Because Salah knows that he deserves far more respect than what Slott is currently showing.

And it feels like a dangerous game for slots to play.
