Arsenal hero Ian Wright has criticized Liverpool players this season, claiming they don’t understand what manager Arne Slott is asking of them on the pitch.
Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has slammed his players following Liverpool’s fourth successive defeat, claiming Arne Slott’s stars have no idea what their manager expects of them. The Reds spent big in the recent summer transfer window to revamp their squad in a bid to retain the Premier League title.
Mikel Arteta’s side finished second behind the Reds last season, and both clubs battled it out for the Premier League title again in the opening weeks of this season. Slott’s team started the season on a high note, but performances did not always match results. Then, due to poor performance, he gave up his position as the leader.
Currently, the Gunners are in the ascendancy and are in second place, three points behind Manchester City, while Liverpool have fallen to third place, four points behind Arsenal after losing their third consecutive Premier League match.

They managed to bounce back with an emphatic win against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League last night. However, manager Wright remains unsatisfied with Liverpool this season.
“I don’t think they understand what coach (Slot) wants,” Wright said on the overlap. “The way they play, it’s win or lose, it’s fuss or famine for them.
“They don’t have any cohesion, none of the players are growing with them. Look at (Ugo) Ekitike, he started the season well. You’d think you’d want to keep him there.”
“I know (Alexander) Isak has come in but (Ekitike) is the only player at Liverpool who is doing that and he has been left out in the last few games (in the Premier League). No full-back is doing it for me at the moment.”
“That’s not happening in midfield. (Ryan) Gravenbirch hasn’t had the same season.
“With[Mohamed]Salah, you have to either create space for him or give him the ball where he can go and attack. But he’s not getting either of those two things.
“Giving him the ball in his time, attacking the spaces, none of that is happening. Trent[Alexander-Arnold]is a huge failure in that respect. The players don’t seem completely convinced.”
Arsenal return to Premier League action this weekend when they take on Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon, while Liverpool travel to Brentford for a late kick-off on Saturday night.
