Mohamed Salah takes drastic action after Liverpool win thanks to onslaught of star players | Soccer | Sports

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah faced criticism on social media for changing his X (formerly Twitter) profile picture and cover photo and making a cameo appearance from the bench after being left out of the squad for the Champions League game against Eintracht Frankfurt. The Reds continued their good form in Germany, defeating their opponents 5-1 after a difficult result.

Salah became one of Liverpool’s best ever players during his time at Anfield, which began in 2017 when he joined the club from Roma. The Egyptian international played 413 games for the Reds, scoring 248 goals and providing 116 assists, helping the team win the Champions League and two Premier League titles. However, this season was far from his best and he paid the price by losing his starting position at Deutsche Bank Park.

Ahead of Wednesday’s clash, Salah’s profile picture published in X showed him smiling broadly, wearing a Liverpool shirt and holding the Premier League trophy.

After the game, he replaced it with a photo of him smiling with his two children.

Meanwhile, his cover photo has changed from a snap of him holding the Champions League trophy aloft alongside his Reds teammates to a plain gray background.

Liverpool caused a riot in Germany with goals from Hugo Ekitike, Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate and Rasmus Christensen putting the hosts ahead before half-time.

Kodi Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai were completely defeated in the second half, and summer signing Florian Wirtz, who was recalled to the starting lineup by coach Arne Slott, recorded the final two assists.

Salah was introduced into the attack in place of Ekitike with 18 minutes remaining.

However, he was criticized as a momentary act of selfishness as he chose to shoot from a narrow angle rather than teeing up Wirtz, who was standing unmarked between the penalty spot and the six-yard box, staring into an open goal in front of him.

Liverpool fan @KayLFC05_ posted a still image of the chance on X and attacked Salah, writing: “Salah hates Wertz lol”.

Meanwhile, @jeremih Chica wrote: “Salah is proving why he needs more bench time. That was very selfish.” And @Nickobe4 added: “I don’t know what he wants to prove again. Leave it for this guy.”

But other fans defended the 33-year-old, with @MikeMbithi7 asking: “What if he scores? Let’s pipe down.” And @AdamGoldson11 added: “There’s no reason to pass. He should have scored there, but he didn’t. That’s the real problem.”
