Liverpool defender Andy Robertson was furious during training after training with team-mates Florian Wirtz and Cody Gakpo ahead of Tuesday’s game against Eintracht Frankfurt
Andy Robertson expressed his frustration after Liverpool’s training loss to Florian Wertz and Cody Gakpo on Tuesday.
Liverpool trained at the AXA training center on Tuesday ahead of Wednesday’s must-win Champions League match against Eintracht Frankfurt. The Reds will be hoping to end their losing streak at four after losing 2-1 to rivals Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday.
The Reds have lost to Crystal Palace, Galatasaray, Chelsea and United in recent weeks, leaving Arne Slott with big questions to answer. They depart for Germany on Tuesday afternoon in hopes of turning their fortunes around, with Robertson also among those hoping to earn a place in the starting XI.
The veteran left-back has been supplanted by summer signing Milos Kerkes for most of the games so far this season. And his frustration was evident in footage released from Tuesday’s training session.

Among them, Robertson, Wirtz and Gakpo lined up behind the post and waited for instructions. As the coach yelled instructions, they moved to the left cone, picked up tennis balls, and sprinted toward the front.
Robertson clearly felt he had won the race, but was told that was not the case. He yelled, “Fuck you!” Before hitting the ball into the ground, he turned to the coach overseeing the drill. To further rub salt in the wound, he watched Kerkes defeat Jeremy Frimpong and Alexis McAllister in the following rounds.
But other drills had a friendly atmosphere, with lots of laughter and smiles as the athletes competed against each other. But later in the day there was further frustration for the Scotland international and his team-mates when his flight to Germany was delayed due to technical problems. This forced Liverpool to cancel their pre-match press conference scheduled for Tuesday night in Frankfurt.
Slott is under pressure for the first time since taking over as Liverpool manager, with the Dutchman currently on the worst run of his entire managerial career. His comments after Harry Maguire’s header was blamed for his side’s defeat at Anfield on Sunday were unhelpful, with many accusing the Reds manager of sour grapes.
“It’s always difficult to play against a team that defends with a low block and plays mainly long balls, but it’s even more difficult when you’re down 1-0 a minute after our players go on the floor,” Slott told Sky Sports.
“If you had told me before the game that we would have created as many chances against low blocks and against teams that play a lot of long balls, I would not have expected to lose this game.”
“I think people forget how many chances we had when we were down 1-0 in the first half, because when you’re down 1-0 it’s very normal for people to focus on the mistakes you made and the moments you could have played earlier.”
