Fulham 0-1 Arsenal: Mikel Arteta’s side returned to the top of the Premier League with a narrow win at Craven Cottage as Leandro Trossard found the back of the net from a set-piece.
Arsenal returned to the top of the Premier League with a hard-fought victory over Fulham as the dead-ball kings struck again at Craven Cottage.
A relatively uneventful first half saw neither team find a breakthrough, but Riccardo Calafioli fired a stunning first goal into the back of the net after being put in an offside position. However, as they have often done recently, Arsenal found a way to break the home team’s resistance early in the second half with a set piece.
Leandro Trossard was in the right place at the right time to slot home Gabriel’s flick-on from a corner kick. Arsenal thought they would be awarded a penalty soon after, but Anthony Taylor overturned the decision after VAR intervention.
With nine minutes remaining, the home fans had hopes that their team might be able to muster a late tying goal. However, Arsenal managed to avoid any drama and see the game through to the end to pick up another valuable victory. Mirror Football player ratings are as follows…

David Raya – 6
Arsenal’s number one could do little as Fulham failed to get any shots on target.
Julian Timber – 8
Since overcoming the injury that ruined his first season, he has become one of the Premier League’s top defenders. He is one of the players who scores 7 out of 10 points or higher every week.
Gabriel – 7
There were some uncharacteristic wobbles in the first half. But it was his header that secured another clean sheet and put the ball in the path of Trossard for the opening goal.
William Saliba – 7
He stood firm throughout Fulham’s advance without seeming overly troubled.
Riccardo Calafioli – 6
A goal was blocked by an offside flag, and they narrowly allowed a goal late in the first half. He is always on the move in the final third.

Martin Zvimendi – 7
Woese class and has adapted to life in the Premier League with minimal fuss. You can see why so many European elites wanted him.
Declan Rice – 7
He has grown into a player who has a huge impact on Arsenal. I continued my interaction with Zvimendi in the engine room.
Eberechi Eze – 5
He integrated seamlessly into the Arsenal team and had some magic, but he struggled here. I wouldn’t be surprised if he pulled out on the hour.
Bukayozaka – 8
He was Arsenal’s Mr. Consistency and once again their best attacker. He always looked like a threat, but it was disappointing to end the night without contributing to a goal.
Leandro Trossard – 6
He scored Arsenal’s goal, but he hadn’t played his best game up until that point. But how important are his wins?
Victor Gokeres – 5
Although he was not blessed with endless service, he was unable to beat Bernd Leno in the home goal. The lack of returns will soon come under further scrutiny.

Mikel Merino – 6
After being replaced by Eze just after the hour mark, he remained stable.
Gabriel Martinelli – N/A
Late successor of Trossard. Although the game was unaffected, he will likely vie for the jersey with Arsenal’s winner in the coming weeks.
Gabriel Martinelli – N/A
Gökeres came on in stoppage time. There was hardly any time to sweat.
