The FA has spoken with David Beckham about the possibility of holding a training camp at Inter Miami as England look to acclimate to American conditions ahead of the World Cup.
The FA is in contact with David Beckham about the possibility of holding a warm-weather training camp at Inter Miami as England begin preparations for next summer’s North American World Cup.
Sky Sports first reported that Beckham, co-owner and president of Florida’s MLS team, was approached by England leaders who toured the club’s facilities in Fort Lauderdale. After the Three Lions confirmed their place in the tournament, they also checked out several other venues.
Before the tournament begins, England want to head to America to put their players through their paces. Thomas Tuchel and the FA’s sports scientists want to give players at least a week, and possibly longer, to start getting used to the extreme heat and humidity.
He is likely to play a key role in the tournament and England’s staff want to take steps to ensure he is ready. The Club World Cup was held in the United States this summer, and both managers and players expressed concerns about the climate.
FA officials are traveling to many locations across the country and considering a number of facilities in preparation for the draw to be held in Houston on December 5th. Once England know their group and opponents, the FA can make a plan.

Only then will England know where they are based, with matches being played across Canada, America and Mexico. The vast size of the host city also means teams may play in completely different environments. Seattle and Vancouver are both possibilities, as are Mexico City and Guadalajara.
A perfect training base is a huge deciding factor in creating the right environment during a tournament that lasts four weeks. England have enjoyed a good record in recent major tournaments, but will be without manager Gareth Southgate for the first time since 2016.
Tuchel’s team secured a 5-0 victory over Latvia that week, earning them a ticket to North America. This means England are building their squad well and have yet to concede a goal in their qualifying campaign, but with some big names absent this time around, the German is regularly questioned for selection.
The England manager said this week: “It’s fantastic. There’s a really good atmosphere in the dressing room. It’s a completely different feeling because it was our dream to go to America. And now we’ve achieved that and we’ve had another good performance and top finish. Now we’ve got six wins and six clean sheets, so I’m very happy. We’re dominating the game.”
