Manchester United and Liverpool will face off on Sunday in what will be a big clash for both sides in the Premier League, with Alan Shearer taking charge of both teams ahead of the game.
Alan Shearer claims Luke Shaw will be the only Manchester United star to feature for the combined Red Devils and Liverpool side. Two fierce rivals will meet on Sunday afternoon for what will become a big match.
Ruben Amorim’s side are in dire need of three points after a disastrous start to the season, but Liverpool come into this encounter having lost three games in a row. Despite this, there will still be plenty of fans to attend the match between the reigning Premier League champions at Anfield on Sunday.
And Shearer seems to strongly agree with that, naming a combined eleven for both teams, with only United’s star player qualifying. Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson was named between the sticks and was joined in the side by Liverpool team-mates Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley.
Red Devils defender Luke Shaw has been selected at left-back despite significant competition from Milos Kerkes and Andrew Robertson. The Englishman has started every game for United so far this season.
There is a similar theme in midfield, with Liverpool dominating. Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenbirch and Dominik Szoboszlai were all selected by Mr Shearer.

That means United captain Bruno Fernandes has been left out completely despite being arguably the Red Devils’ best player over the past few seasons. Shearer’s combined eleven is also exclusively Liverpool in terms of team attack.
Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah has of course been included in the squad despite struggling at the beginning of the season. He will be joined by Dutchman Kodi Gakpo.
The final member of the team is Hugo Ekitike, who was signed in the summer after Liverpool got off to a great start at Anfield. Of course, that would mean United’s own summer additions Matheus Cunha, Brian Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesco would all be ruled out.
It also means there is no place for £125m star Alexander Isak, which is perhaps not a big surprise given his loyalty to Newcastle.
Commenting on the match, Shearer told Betfair: “Liverpool vs Man United is always a big match because of the size of both clubs and former players always say this is a huge game and a game to watch, which means a lot to both the fans and the players.”
