Manchester United’s Antoine Semenyo has signed a new contract with Bournemouth, but that doesn’t mean a move won’t happen in the summer due to a new clause in his contract.
Antoine Semenyo has recently been linked with Manchester United following his excellent start to the season at Bournemouth. The versatile forward has scored six goals and provided three assists this season, attracting the attention of many top clubs.
Following five successful years at Bristol City, including loan spells at Bath, Newport County and Sunderland, Cherries signed Semenyo in a £10m deal in January 2023. And while he has consistently impressed since arriving on the south coast, 2025/26 looks set to be his breakthrough year.
Semenyo, who has scored against Liverpool, Brighton, Leeds and Fulham this season, has been linked with a move as early as January, despite only signing an extension this summer, which would keep him at Bournemouth until 2030. But what is currently being said about Semenyo’s future, with interest rumored from United and Liverpool?

It’s only a matter of time before he moves on
Semenyo admitted he “didn’t feel wanted” enough to part ways with the Cherries this summer, but personal skills coach Saul Isakson-Hurst believes he will move to a “big club” soon. Isakson-Hurst told Mirror Football: “He is an unbelievable player.
“He’s a Champions League player and he was unlucky not to be able to move in the summer, but it’s only a matter of time before he goes to a big club. There was interest. He’s one of the most influential players in the Premier League at the moment, so there’s no ceiling.”
“If he can win the Premier League, he can win any league. He can play for any big club and make an impact.”
He added: “I immediately told him, ‘You should play Champions League football.'” That should be your first goal. How is he going to do it?
“You have to be one of the best players at Bournemouth and help them have a really successful season, and ideally one of the best players in the team and in the league in terms of goals and assists. That gives you the platform to do that. It’s a natural progression.”
Meanwhile, the coach explained their relationship: “That resilience to work hard, that’s one of the reasons why he contacted me. He understands that he needs to keep moving forward and that he hasn’t arrived yet.”
“He wants to continue to develop his skills and become the best player he can be. A lot of footballers approach me, but very few are willing to do something like this on a regular basis and go the extra mile.”
Ruben Amorim’s private “meeting”
Ruben Amorim spent big money on the likes of Matheus Cunha, Brian Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko this summer, and the Portuguese head coach appears to have done everything in his power to woo Semenho. Newcastle United and Tottenham were also interested in the star, but The Transfers Podcast claims United also tried hard to sign him.
Amorim is said to have met Semenyo at a dinner in London at the end of last season to gauge his character. Meanwhile, Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox are also said to have held talks with the Cherries, but no agreement was reached.
United are reportedly willing to pay Semenyo less than what they have offered to other targets, with United reportedly willing to pay £55m for Semenyo before he committed his future to Bournemouth.
Semenyo’s “release clause” emerges
Semenyo is under contract at Bournemouth until 2030, but the club could have no say in his future if Manchester United trigger a release clause reportedly included in his new contract.
According to talkSPORT, the 25-year-old’s contract includes such a clause and the club believe their talisman is worth around £75m, although details of the amount have not been disclosed.
Bournemouth must believe the price for Semenho is fair, given his established status as one of the Premier League’s top performers this season and the fees United have paid for the likes of Brian Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.
