Emmanuel Petit has launched a scathing attack on Manchester United manager Rouben Amorim, accusing him of speaking “utter nonsense” after suggesting pundits were influencing players. In the run-up to the game against Sunderland, these comments sparked a wave of criticism, including some dismissing Gary Neville’s claims. Now Petit has joined the chorus of disapproval, issuing a scathing review of the United manager’s comments.

In an interview with Boyle Sports, Petit ridiculed Amorim’s excuses for the team’s poor performance, saying: “This is the first time I’ve heard a manager use it as an excuse for his players’ failures. Don’t be ridiculous. Ruben Amorim is talking complete nonsense. The players also know that what you’re saying is complete nonsense.”

Petit continued his rant, questioning how Amorim could make such claims while running a club like Manchester United.

He said: “How can you say that when you’re the manager of Manchester United? If you can’t deal with the critics when you’re managing and playing for a big club and you’re getting paid a lot of money, then you should change clubs. Don’t work with top clubs.”

The former France international expressed disbelief at Amorim’s comments, adding: “When I read that, I thought, ‘Did he seriously say that?'”

“I have played for a top club with high expectations. When I was on the pitch, I never tried to find excuses.”

In closing, Mr. Petit urged Mr. Amorim to take responsibility, saying: “Take responsibility for yourself and be a man. I know you have been very angry with your critics. Some of what they said was unfair most of the time. But you have to deal with it.”

“The beauty of football is that you are in control of your own destiny. You can be on the floor one game and be the hero the next. You can change that. You have the power to change it, so just do it.”

“Stop focusing on what people are saying on videos of players on social media. Every player and manager should work together to try to change the situation and environment.”

“There are a lot of people at Manchester United who lack the character and character to change that. Honestly, guys, if you can’t do that, be honest with yourself in the mirror.

“Say, ‘I’m too scared to do that.'” Here it is. So be honest and change. ”

Amorim was under increasing pressure ahead of the international break as United secured an important 2-0 win against Sunderland.

The Red Devils moved up to 10th in the Premier League table with goals from Mason Mount and Benjamin Sesco. After the final whistle, Amorim was excited and praised his team for fighting through to victory.

He declared: “Clean sheets are really important. We didn’t play well the entire game, but there were good moments. But if you look at the performance, it was a team.”

“We’re focused, we’re defending well, and we’re trying to finish the game in the second half. So, I’m happy with this and now it’s time to move on to the next game.”
