England have been told to recall three players, including Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden, if they want to win next summer’s World Cup following bold statements from manager Thomas Tuchel.
Paul Scholes has declared England unable to win the World Cup unless they bring back three of Thomas Tuchel’s despised players – Jude Bellingham among them – as their “best three players”.
The German continued to keep his faith in a team that performed well in the recent international break and delivered again, beating Wales at Wembley and convincingly defeating Latvia on their trip last week. With these wins, they have secured a spot in next summer’s World Cup.
Tuchel was hired with the aim of winning the North American Championship, but he has continued to beat his own drum and continue to make controversial statements. The current squad was without Bellingham, Phil Foden and Jack Grealish.
Despite his recent injuries, Bellingham is considered a generational talent. Foden won the PFA Player of the Year award and Grealish’s start to the season at Everton left many stunned by his absence.
Scholes prefaced this by saying he was “embarrassed” and told the Overwrap: “I was a little surprised. Those three players have to be in his team, and they will be in the World Cup team. If you look at the team now, you can say that there is virtually no chance of winning the World Cup. Even with those three players, it is still a big task, but our chances of winning the Cup are even better.”

“Jude Bellingham has missed a bit of football but he’s fit now so I think we’ve brought him back. Thomas Tuchel doesn’t have many games left until the World Cup actually starts. It’s just the November break and the March break and then we get there so we need to get these players playing.”
Tuchel has given no guarantee that the players left out will be reinstated the next time England reconvene. Despite the noise surrounding Bellingham, the German manager insists there are no personal issues with the Real Madrid midfielder.
The former Chelsea manager has never been shy about making brutal calls and recently criticized Marcus Rashford, who is currently on loan at Barcelona. He told the forward that if he doesn’t develop and produce the numbers his talent represents, he risks wasting his talent.
England will play their final two World Cup qualifiers during the November international break, playing at home against Serbia before visiting Albania.
There is only a little time left for players to make their selections for next summer, and all eyes will be on who Tuchel chooses for these games.
